We saw the Domplatz at night only, but the view is breathtaking. Just the cathedral is already very dramatic. We would have loved to stay longer and visit it during the day. Certainly one of the most impressive squares I have seen.

What an amazing square looking up at the cathedral. Definitely worth a visit when in Erfurt. This town is great and this area is the place to go into old town and see the sites.

Yes it's available on the Domplatz, along with a cold beer it may be the best lunch in the world. It comes hot off the grill with hot bread, cold beer and great mustard. I ate here at least 3 times while I was in Erfurt for less than a week

Visited in 2008, but cannot enter that date. We toured the town and really loved the architecture and stone interiors. People were very friendly. Very laid back and now modernized, but still holds the old country feel. Several small eateries in the square with great food. Prices were reasonable. I strongly suggest using your MC or Visa as the exchange... More

You will probably want to go here, but the large amount of traffic (auto and tram) between the churches (there are two) at the top of the hill and the main commercial district makes it a little less charming. it would be nicer if it were a pedestrian zone, and one must be careful of the traffic when crossing the... The friendly people of Erfurt who were always willing to stop and chat. The arrangements for disabled people to access the Dom were obscure and restricted. I.e. We could not gain access and whilst inside found the door we had entered was once again locked necessitating us to seek assistance once again. There were no ramps inside the building to... More

If you're in Erfurt, you would probably enjoy a visit to this large square with the churches towering above, the picturesque buildings, and the large citadel above. It's fairly typical of German old city centers but is pretty and relaxing.

Dom square of Erfurt is a nice place to hang out. Many good cafes around and great shopping opportunities. Also, many festivals and weekly markets happen here, with a lot of buzz going on all the time. The citadel on the hill next to the cathedral offers great views of the city.

It is said to be the largest in Germany. The view of the cathedral hill and the fortress give it everyday charm. What gives it class are the various festivals and markets that are held there. Alas, on this visit there was only the market. The buildings surrounding the square are mostly well kept and restored. That makes it quite... More
