The friendly people of Erfurt who were always willing to stop and chat. The arrangements for disabled people to access the Dom were obscure and restricted. I.e. We could not gain access and whilst inside found the door we had entered was once again locked necessitating us to seek assistance once again. There were no ramps inside the building to... More

If you're in Erfurt, you would probably enjoy a visit to this large square with the churches towering above, the picturesque buildings, and the large citadel above. It's fairly typical of German old city centers but is pretty and relaxing.

Dom square of Erfurt is a nice place to hang out. Many good cafes around and great shopping opportunities. Also, many festivals and weekly markets happen here, with a lot of buzz going on all the time. The citadel on the hill next to the cathedral offers great views of the city.

It is said to be the largest in Germany. The view of the cathedral hill and the fortress give it everyday charm. What gives it class are the various festivals and markets that are held there. Alas, on this visit there was only the market. The buildings surrounding the square are mostly well kept and restored. That makes it quite... More

There is a very flourishing market in front of the cathedral. I was in Erfurt on a Friday and the market was in full bloom including food at this site. I do not know what other days it may be open. I highly recommend a wander through a market wherever you find one. This is a particularly nice market as... More

Dom Platz is probably the central point on the edge of of the old Medieval city of Erfurt Aldstadt. Quite a busy area with lots of tram lines and vehicle movements. The Market operates here in a huge flat area in front of the steps up to the Dom on Saturdays (maybe other days as welll but we didnt see).... More

Very large open space dominated by the Cathedral which is in an elevated position. Two sides have range of excellent cafés. There is a stall in one corner selling Bratwurst etc for 1 Euro. Junction for several tram routes

Elevated above a central platz the cathedral is huge magnificent work of art. The interior is imposing and very awe-inspiring. We actually got lost and ended up in the city's center only to luck out and see this treasure. Nice quasi beef garden at foot of hill for the weary.

Great view of the churches on top. Just missed a music festival (usually weekends). Lots of stalls selling fruits, veggies, snacks. Public toilettes in a rather interesting glass structure (usual 50 eur cents). Buskers trying for some change. One stall sold excellent sausages for ONE euro. Big sucker in a tiny bun and also roast pork (again good sized) for... More
