The main part of the market is in front of the town hall, but there are other sections all over the centre. This is one of the few markets that continues after Christmas almost to the New Year. As Christmas markets go (and I'm not really a fan - if you've seen one you've seen them all), it was very... More

Quite small but plenty of variety, traditional food and a lovely atmosphere, right next to a mix of historic old buildings and modern shops.

It's like the whole town is one huge Xmas markers- you can't miss it. Amazing sweets at very cheap prices, like €2-3. Unbelievable holiday atmosphere and the feel of a medieval town. Definitely visit Lubeck if you're around at this time of year.

The whole town celebrates Christmas, the decorations are all over the town and makes the atmosphere great - and the Schoko Miintu at the major Christmas market is addictive!

We really enjoyed our visit Lübeck is lovely and you can spend hours wandering around. There are an endless supply of cafes and bars to restore your energy. We loved the Xmas markets and the central one had a heavy emphasis on food and drink. Gluwein with choice of spirits plus other warming traditional punches or hot chocolate kept the... More

Cosy, with lots of Christmas cheer and stalls. But there were too many people walked around like a herring in a barrel. This was a Saturday, weekdays recommended

We have been to quite a few German Weihnachtsmärkte (Christmas Markets); in Berlin, in Hamburg and last year in Lübeck. For a Dane, the one in Lübeck is very convenient as it is close to the border and the old "Hansestad" is the perfect backdrop in its Xmas attire. The city center radiates that special Yuletide atmosphere and the Glühwein... More

Our first visit was on a drippy evening after a long day driving. We were not impressed but figured we were just too tired to appreciate it. So we went back the next day. There were lots of gluh wein stands and lots of sausages. There were lots fried foods with flour, which we don't eat. What was missing were... More

The old Hanseatic town is always worth a visit - especially in the month before Christmas when the town can boast of one of the most famous Christmas Markets in Northern Germany. The inner city is filled with lights, decorations, and temptations of all sorts: Sweets, cakes, and Glühwein, handmade toys and Christmas decorations, the Niederegger shop with the famous... More
