A lovely and interesting museum and factory tour if you are in the area. I enjoyed seeing how the products are made and a wander around the museum afterwards was interesting. There is a pleasant cafe where you can eat and drink off the products. Take half an hour to walk around the town and see the old GDR architecture... More

We had a most enjoyable visit to the Meissen porcelain museum. Good information in English was availbale, both as an audio-guide during a short demonstration of the production process and in the museum itself. Everything is very well organised, and the premises are beautiful. Intersting displays with porcelain made in line with different national traditions. Highly recommended!

The tour was good and informative, they give headphones which have good english translation, although the display staff mostly spoke German. The museaum has a big store for buying the products, but they are rather expensive....

White Gold is the name given to the porcellin produced from this small town known as Meissen. Very interesting, you don,t have to be an afficinado of white china to be amazed at the history and quality of the product. They sell first class products and also quality seconds and we are talking quality seconds. Take loads of money.

I've reviewed the restaurant elsewhere on tripadvisor.com (go for the food, not the museum), so here let me just focus on the 'museum'/shop. I would not visit the site if it were not for the restaurant, which I would return to any time with enormous pleasure. Why does the museum fail? It is too small, and far too 'hit and... More

We are collector of antiques and love visiting historical museum, castle and locations around the world. have seen better collections of meissen porcelain in private properties in Italy, Germany, UK and France than in the official meissen one.. It does not worth the detour and focus more on porcelain museum part of castles and mansion... nothing outstanding and too many... More

If you happen to be in or near Meissen then it may be worth your while to visit the porcelain factory but having been there, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for a visit. The public tour cost us E 9.00 each for adults (in October of 2013), lasted about 20 minutes, consisted of 4 "stops" with a... More

When we travelled in Germany this August, our German friends asked us if we would like to visit Meissen which has the famous porcelain works. We had never heard of it. But my wife had heard of "Dresden porcelain" when she was growing up. It turns out that that was a misnomer. Actually the famous German porcelain associated with Dresden... More

I'm not really a porcelain collector but the tour was very interesting, we were given headsets with the commentary in english. In each of the rooms a small demonstration of the techniques was carried out as well as having it described via headset, after the tour there is an opportunity to purchase items in the shop there.

I cannot say what the English tour was like as I went on the German language tour with my German partner, however, that tour was very good and for a German learner, it was fine, as the guide spoke clearly and slowly, so I understood most of what she said. It was very informative and interesting also to see the... More
