This restaurant came up on tripadvisor with great reviews so we thought it worth a try, we were not disappointed! It was a busy Saturday night but the staff found us a table for 4 as soon as we arrived. The atmosphere was typical beer hall with lots of chat and people enjoying themselves. The staff were attentive throughout the... More

This restaurant is a landmark. It consists of a huge cellar room. The food is (surprisingly) excellent. Be sure to try it.

Touristy with tired waiters but a must see and do in Leipzig for its incredible history. Never been to a 400 year old restaurant before!

They where not really interested in serving us an evening meal and I could not see a single smile in the faces of the staff. The meal was average and the "pudding" or desert a catastrophy of a half raw stuffed apple and a bit of ice cream

Famous as a drinking place for Goethe (one of about 5,217 of them), this restaurant has been in existence for around 500 years and offers a number of rooms of different sizes, although the Grosser Keller (large cellar) is the main restaurant in the establishment. The food is typical German with a Saxon twist with many choices of meat, fish... More

An atmospheric place that served good German food and excellent beer. We had a "pot" meal shared between the two of us and enjoyed some of the "museum" exhibits scattered around the place. It's downstairs in a shopping galleria, with a statue of Faust and Mephistopheles outside.

It is so big to be friendly, I was disappointed how many people was inside. It was very noisy place and talking with friends requested to be loud more than others. Very good beer was topped up by meal, but be aware that meal is heavy and think about your tummy, do not eat all the portion. Finally Goethe's Faust... More

Most people who take a guided tour of Leipzig will stop at Auerbach's, known for its connection with Goethe. We tried it for dinner, and it was excellent. Delicious German cuisine and beer, good service and unique atmosphere.
