This is THE restaurant everyone has to bits when they go to Leipzig. It is in a passage in the center, near the Marktplatz. The food is quite good. Just be sure to order what they know how to make, traditional German dishes. The atmosphere is pleasant. The revive is usually good. Minuses? The prices are quite high now. It... More

This is definitely the place for a quiet or romantic dinner. It is geared very much to the German tourist trading on its supposed links to the Faust legend. It is a barn of a place and consequently very noisy, especially as they accommodate a lot of tourist groups. The service was reasonably efficient although we had a number of... More

This restaurant came up on tripadvisor with great reviews so we thought it worth a try, we were not disappointed! It was a busy Saturday night but the staff found us a table for 4 as soon as we arrived. The atmosphere was typical beer hall with lots of chat and people enjoying themselves. The staff were attentive throughout the... More

This restaurant is a landmark. It consists of a huge cellar room. The food is (surprisingly) excellent. Be sure to try it.

Touristy with tired waiters but a must see and do in Leipzig for its incredible history. Never been to a 400 year old restaurant before!

They where not really interested in serving us an evening meal and I could not see a single smile in the faces of the staff. The meal was average and the "pudding" or desert a catastrophy of a half raw stuffed apple and a bit of ice cream

Famous as a drinking place for Goethe (one of about 5,217 of them), this restaurant has been in existence for around 500 years and offers a number of rooms of different sizes, although the Grosser Keller (large cellar) is the main restaurant in the establishment. The food is typical German with a Saxon twist with many choices of meat, fish... More

An atmospheric place that served good German food and excellent beer. We had a "pot" meal shared between the two of us and enjoyed some of the "museum" exhibits scattered around the place. It's downstairs in a shopping galleria, with a statue of Faust and Mephistopheles outside.
