Super paintings, great archeological exhibits, some riveting statuary and a terrific quiet ambience when we were there. Worth every minute.

The museum is very well laid out and lighted. The collection is mostly local, but very interesting. I could have used more information of the plastic arts in the DDR.
It is amassing place! You have to visit it you will get a great pleasure. Great Arts but you can also visit other gallery as astronomy, glass, physic. It is in the city centre. You may need 4-5 hours to spent.
The collection is extensive and interesting but unfortunately photos are not allowed. The audio tour (included in the price of the ticket) does an excellent job of introducing each room and providing additional information about specific pieces. It is great that you can spend as much time as you want in each room.
What can be improved is the clarity...

Fun to walk around the Gallery district - especially considering this is former East Germany. A lot of glass-work; some beautiful antiques including embroidered clothing and tablecloths; lots of jewellry; interesting things to take home for your house - if you have the room for them; can sometimes see the influence of mid-century modern German expressionist work

Intricate ivory, silver and gold pieces. The visit was then topped off by the green wall. An amazing display of a huge green diamond pendant. Wow. Truely a...

If you visit Dresden, chances are you're visiting most...

The Sistine Madonna by Rafael is the start of the show and with god reason! It is well worth seeing. The rest of the collection is devoted to 17th and 18th century European painting.
See the treasures of Saxony here at the SKD - so many collections to choose from! Get a multi day pass and come and go as you wish.
