This was a nice surprise for my short stay in Dresden. The tour guide is very passionate and well-versed in the history of Dresden, WWII, and Kurt Vonnegut. I really liked how he also connects history to the present, to put things in perspective. Although the sights have been mostly whitewashed, his descriptions paint a picture of what it must... More

A good piece of my adult was formed by reading the novels of Kurt Vonnegut-starting in 1969 when I was a 21 year-old war veteran. Slaughter-House Five showed the path out of nuclear era cynicism through humor and Humanism. This tour is something I could have only thought possible in fiction. Nevertheless, my guide for the tour made things real... More

The guide was very nice, he has clearlt done a lot of research into this tour. He shared with us his own views on the politics of the 40's and compared it with the politics of today and invited us to share our views too. The slaughterhouse itself, however, has been renovated recently. It looks very clean and modern, except... More

I loved Slaughterhouse five, so when I went from Berlin to Prague, I made a quick half say stop to Dresden for this tour. The tour was very informative and kept me interested the entire time. This tour is the only way you can go inside the slaughterhouse so if you are interested in seeing that area or the book,... More

My husband is a literature teacher, and he was keen to take this tour, rather than a more standard tour of Dresden. The guide, Danilo, is highly knowledgeable about the city, the book, and the past and current politics in Dresden. The tour has three stages: 1) background info while standing in Theatreplatz, 2) walking about a mile to the... More

We were the only ones on this tour. It was extremely informative. We walked out to the former slaughterhouse and the guide took us right on in to where Kurt Vonnegut was held as a POW. Really enjoyed it

Danilo knew so much about the history of Dresden and shared so much in such a short tour! It was great learning more about Kurt Vonnegut's actual experiences. It was amazing to visit the slaughterhouse itself. He was so enthusiastic and seemed genuinely happy to give the tour, even though it was cold, raining and he was very tired (not... More

Danilo provided a great deal of background information on Dresden, the bombardment and Vonnegut. Even though I was the only person today, he still did the tour. As a guide he also has access to the slaughterhouse premises.

Incredibly interesting tour by Danilo, who shares his deep knowledge of the history of Dresden and the fire bombing along with Kurt Vonnegut's writings. Visiting the Slaughterhouse itself and knowing that Vonnegut had been there, was certainly moving. His English is excellent, and he was friendly and enjoyable. The tour was 2 hours, but lasted more like 3hrs when you... More

Danilo was a fantastic guide, he was very friendly and knew so much Dresden, its history and everything you'd need/want to know about kurt vonnegut and his books. we had to get to a flight at 12 so he was very nice and rescheduled an earlier tour for us which was very kind. I would recommend this tour to anyone,... More
