Whether you're a Vonnegut groupie, a history aficionado, or just want a better understanding of Dresden's role in WWII, this is a great tour! Danilo was a fantastic tour guide. He made sure we understood the significance of Dresden as a target and how Vonnegut spent his time as a POW there. We started in the old town, walked along... More

The concept of the tour is good. You meet in the Theaterplatz, walk a short way to a stop beside the river, and then walk a bit further to the Slaughterhouse Five complex. But because the property is privately-owned, there is no guarantee you will be able to access the interior of the building where Vonnegut was held as a... More

If you came to Dresden because you are a fan of kurt Vonnegut, you read slaughterhouse 5, or you simply want to chat about the state of the world now, then, and when will be, take the tour. It's only some pennies. Danilo is great. He brings humor and interest, as well as a local mind, to the conversation you... More

A couple of hours in Danilo's company flew by, with a thoughtful and comprehensive guide to Dresden and how Vonnegut Jr.'s novel and life connect with the city's history. If you have an interest in history, heritage, or the author, don't miss out on this marvellous tour.

I took this tour mainly because Dresden has no WW2 tours at all. The book I love also. It didn't disappoint - we had History, Biography, Book Scenes - We had it all. Danilo is a history lover, full with fascinating information and as a resident of Dresden, also out of the history books information. I recommend this tour to... More

This was a nice surprise for my short stay in Dresden. The tour guide is very passionate and well-versed in the history of Dresden, WWII, and Kurt Vonnegut. I really liked how he also connects history to the present, to put things in perspective. Although the sights have been mostly whitewashed, his descriptions paint a picture of what it must... More

A good piece of my adult was formed by reading the novels of Kurt Vonnegut-starting in 1969 when I was a 21 year-old war veteran. Slaughter-House Five showed the path out of nuclear era cynicism through humor and Humanism. This tour is something I could have only thought possible in fiction. Nevertheless, my guide for the tour made things real... More

The guide was very nice, he has clearlt done a lot of research into this tour. He shared with us his own views on the politics of the 40's and compared it with the politics of today and invited us to share our views too. The slaughterhouse itself, however, has been renovated recently. It looks very clean and modern, except... More

I loved Slaughterhouse five, so when I went from Berlin to Prague, I made a quick half say stop to Dresden for this tour. The tour was very informative and kept me interested the entire time. This tour is the only way you can go inside the slaughterhouse so if you are interested in seeing that area or the book,... More

My husband is a literature teacher, and he was keen to take this tour, rather than a more standard tour of Dresden. The guide, Danilo, is highly knowledgeable about the city, the book, and the past and current politics in Dresden. The tour has three stages: 1) background info while standing in Theatreplatz, 2) walking about a mile to the... More
