Excellent value for money. Very friendly lady greeted us . Wonderful collections of dolls, cars , Lego , games , train sets and landscapes and lots more . Well arranged and lots of space to view items . It was very hot but the windows were open and allowed us to see the pretty rooftops of neighbouring buildings . Very clean place as were the toilets . Highly recommended.

It was a cold and rainy day so we took the opportunity to visit this museum just next to a coffee shop with same name.
Been an interesting visit and regret not have visited before.

As I understand, it is very popular museum. Although it would seem how to combine the main market square and a return to childhood? However, if the museum began its existence more than a quarter century ago as a simple exhibition of the personal collection and nestled somewhere in the backyard, but now it moved to one of the most famous houses of Trier, around the Hauptmarkt Platz, - "Steipe", but still occupies two floors and 500 square metres of space, things at the museum are going well. At least the sheer number of exhibits in the museum, surpassing five thousand units is impressive. Everything is here – houses, mills, cranes, boats and, of course, dolls, miniature railway, tin figures, plush toys and so on. But leaders are, of course, cars.

Lots of interesting exhibits with toys from different eras. Dolls, doll houses, car, building blocks. I can imagine that this is a good place to visit with children.
You exit from another door than your entry and come directly into the coffee shop

If you like old toys, this place has everything, three floors of toy history with a great expo on Bavarian style stuffed puppets. They have military toys, dolls, fire trucks and cars, train sets, miniature models, tea sets, everything. Kids love it and grown ups reminisce...

Funny kind of collection. Mostly un-identified toys but nicely displayed. Ranges from tin soldiers to puppets. Also lots of cars. Several old trains on top floor and a simple train layout. Could have wanted more explanatory labels - manufacturer - date etc

You can take a quick look for €5 but it gets tiring quickly because of the lack of organisation and information - I went to a toy museum in Helsinki that had put a huge amount of effort into explaining the history of each type of toy, but not here. The half hourly performance of the town display of stuffed animals was pretty funny, otherwise the only action you get is a train set where the train is running on the most boring track possible.

The most recent museum in Trier, located on the Main Market inside the Steipe. It displays an immense private collection of mechanical toys, tin soldiers, dolls, stuffed animals, toys from the Third Reich, a complete zoo, wind-up and electric trains etc.

We visited on my 10 year old's request. It was fun to see the toys, and marvel at the trains, cars and other cool old toys. It isn't a huge museum, but worth going. It was affordable.
