The market place is the heart of Trier - countless eateries, bars, and shops, in the oldest town in Germany - rather pretty with all sorts of Roman ruins dotted around. More

This is the central market in Trier, you can't miss it if you walk around town, as all the main pedestrian streets go there. In December it hosts the X-Mas market, an experience that should not be missed (gluhwein, pancakes, etc). A lot of beutiful buildings all around, a status in the middle, and right next to the Dom. A pretty enough but typical German market. Bright with flowers, fruit and vegetables on Market-day in the summer, and fun in December when the Christmas Market runs. The rest of the time, however, it's just another square in another German town ... More

You could only be in Germany. Lovely mix of building from medieval through baroque to modern. Oldest apothecary (1200s), old churches, old houses, old everything. Amazing what a nice whole this mixed collection of buildings from different centuries makes. In November they're getting ready for the Christmas markets, so lots of little chalets going up, which kinda impact the general... More

Imagine a pretty German market place with cobbled stones, a cross and old style buildings. This is it ! Although one building has been rebuilt due to allied bombing during WW2 it has been done sympathetically and will not spoil the experience in anyway. Very nice. More
