While in Mainz, walking around is the best way to get to know this lovely town.. it has a lot to offer: charming architecture, lovely streets and squares, the Gutenberg museum, the river Rhein (go have a walk on the river side in the evening after the lights are on, the views are really nice then), tasty street food..

Mainz is such a pedestrian-friendly city that a walking tour is the best way to go sightseeing. Try walking along bytheside of the river Rhine, and then walk around the central old town. You'll see quaint old shops, a beautiful old market square, some superb cathedrals and churches, and several museums and art galleries.

Walking the strasse (street) by the Rhein River, the architecture is beautiful. TemplerStrasse where the Hyatt is, all those trees are Paulonia. It smells like violets. I was thrilled to be able to ID it! Practically any strasse in Altstadt (old town) Mainz is gorgeous. The castle looking bldg is next to Hyatt, has grass growing on roof. Rhodies, down... More

I was lucky enough to have Susan all to myself in my three hour walking tour through Mainz. I thoroughly enjoyed each moment. Susan is an extremely knowledgable and engaging guide who brought the history of Mainz to life. She is friendly and so very easy to talk to. I was able to see so many sights on my tour.... More

When I read in Rick Steves' Germany book "Mainz, Wiesbaden, and Rudesheim - these towns are too big or too famous. They are not worth your time." I thought Rick's problem was he has not seen these towns with Susan. My friend and I were in Mainz 3 days on our own before joining up with a tour group and... More

We were treated to an organized tour by our host. This was quite nice. She took us to many nice places, including the Dom and the Gutenberg Museum. This part of the tour was quite nice, but just walking around the city was nice. We received explanations of many nice attractions not know to outsiders. Mainz is right on the... More

Susan took our family of 5 on tours of Mainz and Worms. Susan is a gentle, thoughtful and engaging guide. I cant imagine getting anywhere near as much out of the towns we visited without her. Highly recommended.

My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter (12) were impressed by the width and breadth of the tour guides knowledge in her Tour of Mainz. The tour was outstanding and we were amazed at how she managed to explain the history and make it stick in your mind in a pleasant tone of voice......... we learned alot about Mainz in a very... If you want to learn about Mainz, as well as enjoy a fantastic walking tour, you can not do better then having Susan guide you around. The four of us had a great time, even though it was done in light rain. Robert/Atlanta, Georgia

Susan is a superb guide. She advised me about every step of the process, including how to get from Frankfurt Airport to Mainz, and she anticipated my questions and needs (I was traveling alone and don't speak German). She is extremely knowledgeable about German history and art, and has many amusing and interesting stories to keep you fascinated and eager... More
