take the cable car up to the fortress. It's a must stop while visiting Koblenz. Koblenz, which is at the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine Rivers is both picturesque and strategic.

Standing on the hill opposite side of the river the fortress seems to still watching over the city. The best way to get up there will be the cable car (including the view of the city) 9E/return. Don't forget to take photos before; ... nice shot also at night with the lights.

The Rhine in Flames festival in Koblenz had everything! - rides, food, beer and even a giant Haribo candy table where you could pick out what you wanted. We took the cable car over to the fortress at 10pm just before the fireworks were scheduled to go off in Koblenz. It was spectacular to see the fireworks going off all... More

well preserved historical icon and effective self-led tour; Cable car from Koblenz is great way to reach. Spend 1-2 hours

We had some time to kill in Koblenz so we bought the family plan to take the cable car up and back and tour the fortress. Taking pictures from the fortress back towards the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz is cool. You'll definitely get some great shots. We were somehwat puzzled by the museum up there. It had the most bizarre... More

You can climb up to the fortress from the station following the festweg from the traffic lights along a white building first then in the wood and you arrive at the gondola station where you buy tickets and take the leaflet(comes in French, English ) to find your whereabouts inside the fortress (must be rather confusing to walk around without... Great Seilbahn ride to the Fortress is a wonderful start to a day spent on Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. This attraction provides greenery, museums, lots of historic narratives, wine tasting (extremely friendly and helpful wine experts!), and small nooks and crannies to explore. If one gets tired, seek out the little cavern at the lowest point of the fortress (you'll find this... More

Very nice, newly refreshed (2011 Flower Show) visitor center and fortress grounds. Impressive. Took the gondola up and down from the German Corner. Very nice ride and very affordable.

I think I never seen before an old fortress being used so effectively for turistics purposes. There they were a lot of things for someone to see. The place is accessible by teleferic. There are quite a lot small museums, although there were some mistakes in the descriptions of some works, for example a statue of Heracleus was described as... More

It was difficult to find the focus for our visit with 4 adults. Wandering the walls was not exciting without any guidance and focus for the visit. Found the photographic exhibit we were interested in after looking around for it. Garden areas seem deserted and forlorn.
