Ehrenbreitstein Fortress near the German city of Koblenz, I had never heard of it. It came on my path during a walk along the Rhine (Rheinsteig). The magnificent fortress is situated just across the Rhine. It’s a great place to visit for a few hours. Read my review at http://www.frankwalks.com/best-places/germany/ehrenbreitstein-fortress

We took the Cable Car from Koblenz to the Fortress. Very relaxing and beautiful ride. The Fortress is very impressive and has many places for pictures and outside venue for wine and drinks.

We took the gondola up to the Fortress. When you get your ticket where the gondola is they have a small brochure in English which was a great keep in understanding the history of the fortress. Outside of the history many of the rooms are art galleries and there is room about the winery industry in the area. That was... More

The view of the viewing platform is a work of art to be appreciated. A stunning structure in this modern park that is littered with modern artistic scultures. Great structured gardens , picnic areas and seating. the viewing platform is wheelchair friendly and the views across the rivers are even better than the cable car views. This is worth a... More

The gondola ride to the fortress provided a good view of the city and the grounds and fortress itself were impressive. The orientation map provided was difficult to follow and some of the displays did not seem consistent with the fortress itself. Al in all worth the visit.

Ehrenbreitstein Fortress overlooks the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel rivers. We went for something to do on a visit to Koblenz but quickly realised that it would take days to see everything. There is the fortress itself with great examples of military architecture; the Baroque style residence, the museum of archaeology, and much much more. To cap it all... More

take the cable car up to the fortress. It's a must stop while visiting Koblenz. Koblenz, which is at the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine Rivers is both picturesque and strategic.

Standing on the hill opposite side of the river the fortress seems to still watching over the city. The best way to get up there will be the cable car (including the view of the city) 9E/return. Don't forget to take photos before; ... nice shot also at night with the lights.

The Rhine in Flames festival in Koblenz had everything! - rides, food, beer and even a giant Haribo candy table where you could pick out what you wanted. We took the cable car over to the fortress at 10pm just before the fireworks were scheduled to go off in Koblenz. It was spectacular to see the fireworks going off all... More

well preserved historical icon and effective self-led tour; Cable car from Koblenz is great way to reach. Spend 1-2 hours
