The fortress is HUGE, nice to wander around in but not to special. The views from the top towards Koblenz are nice. You can clearly see the two colors of the rivers collide into one. Apparently the fortress is host to numerous and expositions. From music, festivals and, the one I saw, A 40 years of play-mobile expo. Check it... More

The funicular side up to the fortress was by itself quite an experience. Breat taking view. Once you get to the fortress, there are guides that take you around the fortress and talk about history, which are generally in German. I’m sure there would be English guides too but I guess you have to inquire about that prior to you... More

Despite being a grey cold day this visit proved to be a "must see". Sadly the Seilbahn had broken down but we drove there easily anyhow

The Ehrenbreitstein Fortress has additional attractions of the Haus der Fotografie (photography), Haus der Archäologie (archaeology) and the Landesmuseum Koblenz (with temporary exhibitions). The fortress is quite impressive, and I accessed it with the cable car, which was convenient and scenic at the confluence of of the Rhine and the Moselle.

An incredible example of an extremely well fortified (mostly Prussian) fortification, although its "human habitation" history goes back 5,000 years. A lot of money has been spent on restoration in the last few years and to good effect. Sounds of the fortification, as it would have been 200 years ago float on the air, as if they are just round... I have done countless photo shoots there - there are few places like this on the entire planet. And if you are hungry, they have a very nice restaurant up there - without the rip-off you would expect at such tourist places.

You should see this yourself... it's unbelievable what they achieved here, it's huge and very clever build! The fortress is one thing, but there are miles of tunnels under it. Walls are 10 foot thick, clever build.

What a great view we had from our Vantage River Cruise. The fort is situated high above the banks of the Rhine River across from Koblentz. Its history dates back to the 4th millennium BC, (beginning of the bronze age as well as writing) when it was first settled. This fortress, since 2002, has been part of the UNESCO World... More

A place full of history despite with no other than German plates to explain places and facts. If you don't speak the language could be a good idea google the place before visit. The city and rivers confluence view pays the trip.

When in Koblenz, I think it is worth the time to venture of to this fort. It is an impressive structure, and has a very interesting history. They have done a great job of preservation/restoration. It has a very interesting history, as well; and the views of the Rhine/Mosel river valleys are breathtaking.
