We cruised the Rhine river from Bacharach to Boppard and it was such a lovely portion of the Rhine. Highly recommend a cruise on the Rhine.

Our luxury cruise was on Emerald Sky early May from Basel to Amsterdam. The ship was located in Kembs in France on the Canal d'Alsace. We were already staying in Basel. We were instructed to go to the airport to catch a bus to a muddy field in Kembs to board the ship. Passengers kept arriving all afternoon. Our cabin... More

For our first European river cruise, we chose the Avalon Waterways 8 day Rhine River cruise. It did not disappoint, despite changes to schedule due to the Rhine being meters above normal. The Felicity is immaculate, with excellent "staterooms" and a helpful attentive crew. Complete the picture with delicious food, and friendly fellow passengers. We started with the free luxury... Sailed from Basel to Amsterdam for 7 nights on the newly launched AmaVista now formally christened AmaVenita. The river cruise experience far exceeded our expectations. Although we enjoyed going ashore each day and visiting interesting places the highlight was always returning to a warm welcome onboard this beautiful vessel with amazing crew and delicious food. Everything was either included or... More

This was our first river cruise and our first trip with Viking. We sailed on the Viking Mani and were extremely impressed with the pristine condition of the ship, the swiftness of the morning servicing of the cabin, the excellent food and choices, and the overall friendliness of the crew and staff. We started our trip in Basel and finished... More

The Viking Lofn river cruise from Amsterdam to Basel afforded cruisers the opportunity to travel through the beautiful and lush Rhine River Valley. One of the most spectacular trips was the afternoon we traveled between Koblenz to Bingen on the Middle Rhine, home to the Castles of the Rhine. After traveling by bus to the Marksburg Castle we returned to... More

May 2015, was certainly the wrong time for a Rhine River cruise, at least on Gate1’s Sound of Music. The river was flooded and we did not move a single millimeter on the boat for the entire week. Instead, we were bussed, often with significant delays, to most of the major ports on the itinerary. We were offered no compensation,... More

My partner and I recently took the 4 night Rhine Discovery cruise on the MPS Lady Anne through Diamond Short Break Holidays. Prior to booking the cruise, we noticed many mixed reviews so did a fair bit of upfront research. We were looking for a short cruise with an introduction to the best part of the Rhine. As this was... This was the best-organized and managed cruise we've taken, from our arrival by air in Basel to our passage through CDG in Pari 9 days laters. The stateroom was confortable, the balcony a lovely place to sit and watch the river slide by and the elevator helpful for anyone having problems with stairs. All the shore excursions were included with... More

The Rhine River Valley is spectacular and picturesque with its many castles and vineyards. I have been here twice as art of coach tours and twice on river cruise ships and always enjoy the scenery. My photos say much more than words although I have found it even more colourful in Autumn! Of particular interest is Pfalzgrafenstein Castle which was... More
