Enjoyed the Rhine but LOVED the Moselle

We just returned from an Avalon River cruise from Basel to Amsterdam and it included the Moselle. If you have time this is a great cruise but if you have more limited time you... read more

Veterans of big ship cruises, my wife and I wanted to try the much smaller ship experience on the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Basel. I cannot say enough how this cruise exceded our expectations. There were only 129 passengers. We had an exceptionally attentive crew and the sites and stops were historical, fun and if you like beer, magnificent.... More

We did the Rhine River cruise from Amsterdam to Basel Switzerland in June of 2015 on the Amacello. This was our second trip with AMA and the Amacello is a smaller and less well appointed than the Amaprima we traveled on before. This was an excellent cruise with great stops and the trip through the Rhine George is terrific. The... More

This is one of my favourite places. You can take a 7 day cruise down the Rhine or opt to take the local service and do it in stages. There are a number of castles you can visit. Marksburg involves a steep walk up, but the views are spectacular. Rudesheim has a museum, great wine tasting and from Assmanhausen you... More

We just returned from an Avalon River cruise from Basel to Amsterdam and it included the Moselle. If you have time this is a great cruise but if you have more limited time you might consider taking their cruise through the Rhine Gorge then up the Moselle and I think it goes on by bus or train to Paris. The... More

We recently went on an 8 day Viking cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, with pre and post extensions. I would not do the pre and post extensions with Viking again. The Amsterdam one was a nightmare, the Renaissance Hotel was terrible service and would have organised it myself better. The Radisson Hotel in Lucerne was also the same. I would... More

We started in Basel, Switzerland and ended up in Amsterdam. All on the Rhine River on the new Viking Modi long ship. During our trip, there was a problem with the river level due to flooding from recent rains, so it created some delays and variances in our itinerary, but the crew and staff worked diligently to adjust to make... We had heard only positive opinions about Viking River Cruises from our friends. But our cruise was something of a disappointment. The worst of Viking's failings stemmed from how they dealt with high water level on the Rhine. No, they can't control the weather. But they can control how they respond to it. First, at the last minute, we were... More

We had our first cruise on MPS Rotterdam in May. We started at Amsterdam to Cologne, The crew were really friendly and helpful, food was very good, we upgraded our room which wasn't to bad had fold up bed but we didn't have to do it so it was fine. Downside was weather which can't be helped, the high water... More

We paid an awful lot of money to enjoy a leisurely, relaxing and enjoyable 5 star Rhine Cruise with Emerald Waterways. This cruise should have been cancelled before the arrival of any passengers due to the predicted and forecast high water caused by rainfall and snow melt. The ship never managed to get to the start point in Basel. We... More

We enjoyed the River Rhine Waterfalls cruise in May 2015 during our family trip to Europe. The cruise was exciting. The cruise takes you to a landing site in the middle of the massive falls for photographs. An Indian snack shop is nearby. Toilets are free. A lot of groups visit the place so can be crowded. Ample car/bus parking.
