We just got back from a Newmarket river cruise on the Danube sailing on the Ms OLIMPIA. First the bad, after an early start from our pick up point we started an epic journy from Yorkshire to Germany 14hours later we arrived at our overnight hotel, We thought the worst was over, after a much needed sleep in a lovely... This was our third river cruise and the second with Uniworld. We travelled with Uniworld last year to Venice supposedly to 'cruise' the Po River northern and immediately before this trip we came off the Scenic Ruby Bazel - Amsterdam. We travelled with another married couple who usually cruise with 5 star ocean liners. So we had some benchmarks to... More

I saw commercials about the elegant Viking River Cruises and was eager to go on one. I booked one on the Prestige, scheduled to be an 8 day adventure from Passau to Budapest. Unfortunately, the cruise fell short of my expectations, on many levels. One good thing was meeting the passengers from other countries. We were notified by email, a... More

Just back today from a wonderful cruise on the Rhine. We went via Eurostar and was nice not to have to fly although getting home today was a bit of a mission for us, with 7 changes of transport, but it all went well. The ship we thought was very nice and our cabin on the middle deck was spotlessly... More

Travelled the Rhine as it was part of our river cruise from Basel to Vienna, and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Avalon Artistry II - the crew knocked it out of the park. This was our first river cruise and we will be doing this again. Hopefully with this same crew, different route. The cruise director, Jon Pol, was great, personable, witty,... More

My husband and I started off our journey by staying overnight at the Ramada hotel in Dover which was very good overnight stay. We left our car in the hotel car park, the next morning our bus picked us up for the ferry crossing and journey to the Lady Anne. What a gruelling journey we set off at 8.45am and... More

We have just completed a 14 day cruise on the Viking Alsvin from Amsterdam to Budapest. The Alsvin was launched this year and is very comfortable and cabin 205 was lovely. We had a wonderful holiday. We usually sailed at night and had most days exploring an interesting place with local guides, on many occasions we also had time to... More

We toured the Rhein on the KD from Bingen to Boppard. Cruising north is faster than south. Get your cameras ready because you will take a ton of pictures of the beautiful towns, castles and vineyards on the sloping river banks on this 2 1/2 hour cruise. We explored Boppard and Bingen on foot and it's well-worth it.

I have just returned from a 5 day cruise on MPS Lady Anne on the Rhine. This was a present to my mother for her birthday. I am sad to say it is the worst holiday I have ever had. The boat was ok although very dated, the food was barely edible - I had better food at school 30... More

This 100 year old boat is definitely showing its age. A little tired around the edges! However, the captain and crew were all first class! Efficient and helpful, the crew could not be faulted. Accommodation was basic but we found quite comfortable. We had a promenade cabin which was a little larger than the lower deck cabins. Food was of... More
