It's huge, it's beautiful and it tries very hard to build spacious and nature-like spaces for the animals. Best part: Not just the ways for the visitors, but even the enclosures have forest-like floors. A Highlight is the Tiger-enclosure: A big part of a forest, where you can feel your hair standing up when you spot the frickin big shadow... More

This zoo is set on a hillside so if you're handicapped it's good to know. This zoo is fine, very natural looking, nothing like Hannover or Seattle, but still fine. There is a lovely hanging bridge over a pond and I recommend you stand in the middle and shake the thing til you're nearly sick - it's great fun. Also... More

The very good ZOO from our point of view. We spent the whole day and admired the beasts. A lot of fun for children. A very good restaurant inside.

Recently went to this zoo whilst visiting a friend in Dusseldorf. We spent hours hours here and was so surprised by the amount of animals in the zoo! It was great to see it in such a natural environment and not so man-made looking like many of the zoos in the UK. Great zoo and well worth a visit, if... More

We go to this Zoo every time we are in Germany. Our trip starts in Vohwinkel and we take the Suspension Railway to the Zoo Station. A short walk to the Zoo is lined by old Villas and beautiful gardens. The Zoo is build along the hill side so there is a lot of walking up and down hill. The... More

You'll need to be quite fit if you want to see the lions and tigers at the top of the steep slope that rises from the banks of the Wupper river, but once you you have reached the bush and forest habitat of the tigers and the vast grassy steppe where the lions roam, you will for sur think that... The lush green Wuppertal Zoo is very easy to reach with public train transport. Once inside the Zoo offers some modern animal attractions such as the elephants' housing. Pushing a pram around can be a bit daunting as the Zoo is hilly. The kids play area draws the families wanting to take time out. Looking forward to a better dining... More

The zoo was really nice, with a lot of different kind of animals. Some of the pens were quite big and offered wide spaces for animals, but some others were a bit too small, I think. There were some big animals in the zoo, like lions, tigers, elephants and polar bears... Lions had a really huge area for them, but... More
