Paid about 10€ for a family of four. Hugh park with lots of large green areas, mini botanical gardens, hundreds of tree and plant species, animals, pony rides, loads of parks for the kids to run around, mini train ride around the park and even found a splash pool for younger kids. You can rent a bbq area - not... More

Very nice park, especially over the summer with lots of colourful flowers and ponds. Kept in a very good condition. Spacy enough for running or longer walks - up to one hour. Tennis courts, courts for bedminton, beach volleyball. Facility for exercising.

This is a gorgeous, humongous park. If your kids need to burn some energy, this is a wonderful place to do it. When you think about it, it makes sense - Essen is a very modern city, with its many street lights, lots of cars and houses crammed together. The residents need a place where they can stretch out, be... More

Take U11 tram from HBF and last stop is Messe / Gruga. Walkdown from station to park. There is nominal entry fee of 10 Euros. Here you can relax and enjoy natural beauty. This park is very well maintained and has many things for kids. You can enjoy remote control operated trucks in one of the section and see beautiful... More

there are playgrounds and a little train for the kids. the are snack bars and cafés and the flower gardens look great in spring. when you visit during "Parkleuchten", you will experience it at night, full of lights and spirits. the only disadvantage is the entrance fee.

I find the Grugapark quite inconvenient to visit. This is a park one must pay a few Euros to enter... that is if they are able to first find the entrance which is located in some strange maze. It seems that they do not want people to find it as there are no signs. The gardens are beautiful, and the... More

Loved the black swans, but they also had owls and other birds on display. Enormous grounds, lots of flowers and lovely water.

The deer were lovely. I went to feed them with some friends but whilst getting food out from the vending machine I was surrounded. The deer elder bowed her head towards me (they are matriarchal) to tell me to give her the food. I gave some but it was not enough, threw the box to a friend and the deer... More
