Great location with lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance from the "old Monkey Beach", now our favorite hotel (Hyatt Regency) with DOX bar & Restaurant. Also very interesting: a KÖLSCH brewery in Düsseldorf ....Always packed ...no hate to feel between the "two forbidden towns" lol. Summertime walking along the Rhine to the old town is a must. I was in Dusseldorf for a quick trip and while I was there I went to the Medienhafen twice. If you're a fan of architecture, a visit is a must and even if you're not, you should take a stroll down the Rhine Promenade all the way down towards the Rhine Tower, Neuer Zolhoff - Frank Gehry's trio of buidlings,... Great view of the Rhine river, and some fantastic buildings. You'll find the Frank Gehry building in all the brochures and yes, it is spectacular. How it manages to look different depending from which side you see it or if what the weather is like that day. But there are some really great other buildings. Go up the Rhine Tower.... More

I visited it already after dark and was surprised about so many birds songs here and in February. Seemed to be safe and attractive place, especially standing on small bridge and overlook ships going under it. A bit feeling as not in big city.

Very interesting combination of the old, post-industrial and modern (or post-modern) architecture. The old river port canal is build up by number of interesting buildings, with offices, hotels and restaurant. One of the top attraction of Dusseldorf. Definitely a must for an architecture lover.

The old town is very nice and something you should visit. Promenade and drink in one of the bars is recommended. This area is relaxing even it is close to the commercial and crowed town center.
