Dusseldorf is full of surprises and this was one of the best. The area along the river is relaxing and beautiful. There is plenty to see and lots of cafes to sit and sip coffee or have have a beer. Don't forget your camera! I was there in spring and the locals and tourists were already out enjoying the beauty... More

I have to admit this is my favorite place in Dusseldorf. The best place to spend the afternoon, watching the sun set, drinking beers, and hanging out with friends. Find it very romantic for couples to stroll along the Rhein river. Love the view and love the ambience!

One of the nicest places in the city, and a great walk. It is right near altstadt also so near to plenty of other things. The bars along here are great, all under cover but outside, and have large screens for sport events. Definitley go!

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon sitting in one of the many cafes enjoying lunch and an Altbeer and watching the deutschesvolk promenading beteween the two bridges and watching the flocks of sheep which graze on the other side of the river. It never ceases to amaze me how the germans can make the most out of their attractions... If you want to eat well and have a great view over the river rhine, go there. I would recommend Gosch, an expert for seafood . Salmom, prawns, pasta with scallops - everything you can think of. Nice people, very open minded

The Rhine embankment promenade between Burgplatz and Apollo Platz is a must do when visiting Dusseldorf. Yes I agree the bars are a bit touristy , you will get better food in some of the back street restaurants back in the Old Town, and it does get very busy on a hot summers evening. But the vibe of walking along... More

Great seafood dishes (get the large one for "two" which can easily feed 3-4), flam kuchen, ribs, traditional german dishes, etc, order a beer, glass of wine or a coffee, and just sit back and enjoy the views of the river Rhine and folks strolling along. In cool weather, heaters and blankets provide enough warmth to make it a cozy... More

It's a little bit overcrowded but I love the atmosphere, a lot of restaurants, a nice view over the river.

I always like walking along a city river and the Rhine was no exception. Nice views, and nice atmosphere. Lots of people go here to have a drink or just hang out on the steps and the square. The northern side of the Altstadt leads to a part where the steps go down to the water, ending in a little... More
