I visited the market on a Saturday morning. There is a public car park opposite which was quiet (if not a little tight on access). But having parked, this afforded me the opportunity to use the market as a starting place to additional attractions. The market itself is compact and in the main food related. So great for buying fresh... More

We had 5 hours transit time in Dusseldorf airport so we decidec to take S-Bahn 11 from terminal to hauptbahnhof, 12 minutes. From there we had a nice walk to Old town and came to this crowded, but cosy market place. Lots of people, all dressed German- like well. We had currywursts, German specialty consisting of bratwurst and ketchup with... More

The Christmas markets in Dusseldorf and Cologne are well worth a visit. Don't expect to get any bargains as all the stalls are very expensive. However the whole atmosphere and surroundings are a wonderful experience.

Right in Carlsstadt and near the Great Carlsplatz Market you will find at the Bilker Strasse 22 on the corner of the Bastionstrasse the Dog´s Deli Delikatessen. Well if you have dogs at home - and like me Beagles - you will find the best over there for them. Nothing from a fabric with all E numbers but really all... More

it's a bit touristic as it doesn't just sell market stuff however it's worth to go even as someone here. they offer many good things. and it's always nice to show your friends from outside. it definitely has a German market flair.

I suppose that the Carlplatz Market is one of the cheapest shopping areas in Dusseldorf. Its a small area located in a nice shopping district but offers a fair selection of stalls, ranging from fressh fruit, veg, speciality oils, truffles, home decor and meat Dont miss out on having one of those mssive hot dogs there, complete with the legendary... An accidental find but what a gem. A real market, mainly under cover, occupying a whole square in the old town, selling food of all descriptions, some to take home and prepare, some to eat for your lunch as you stand at the tables provided. The time to go, if you want lunch, is 11.30 before the queues get too... More
