We recently enjoyed one of the free lunchtime concerts by the Cologne Philharmonic orchestra at this venue. This was our first ever classical music experience and we where completely blown away. The venue itself is superb the seating is excellently arranged and extremely comfortable. However it is the acoustics of the place that really make it, such an incredible sound.... More

We went for the Silvesterkonzert 2014. Tickets were quite cheap when booked online, and it includes return travel from point of origin (assuming you are in Cologne) 4 hours prior to start of concert and anytime after the concert till public transport ends for the day. The foyer was grand, and I have never seen so many cloakroom in a... More

I went to 3 concerts in this wonderful concert hall. Ticket prices are very competitive (about 1/3 or leass of what you pay in San Francisco for classical concerts). What amazed me the most is that despite sitting at different areas each time, the sounding effect was similar and very impressive; probably due to the circular , amphitheater-like structure, there... big theatre underground, we went to see the Brazilian show they had on really enjoyed it. We payed for standing tickets on the night as was told to wait just before it started and take any empty seats as it was a quiet evening. Definitely worth a visit.

We saw two wonderful concerts at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall. while the concerts were magnificent, the concert Hall is wonderful too. Lovely seating arrangements which means one can see well from just about anywhere in the Hall.....and of course the acoustics were excellent. Tickets were easy to purchase just next to the concert hall.

Top-notch concert (Saraste conducting Sibelius 5th) with good seats available one day in advance in a very good hall. Looked like there were nearly constant high-quality concerts going on.

If you line up early, you can join about 1500 other people for a short, free concert by the Philharmonic. What was so great is that it is a chance to meet other locals from the area and take a break from "tourist attractions". We arrived about 45 minutes early and found great seats (first come, first chance to grab... More

what a beautiful concert hall, and a terrific performance of Brahms' German Requiem. Couldn't have been a better place to hear it. Afterwards, go upstairs to the cafe at the Museum Ludwig for after-concert drinks.

If you are into concerts make sure you stop by the ticket center and learn about their program. The acoustics is great so it doen't really matter if you get a last minute ticket at a distant seat. Before and after the concert you may have a drink at the foyer. To make a long story short, this a great... More
