The concert hall is fantastic, very good accustic, excellent concerts, quite a lot of steps to climb though
you cannot visit cologne without seeing these soaring spires. and please take the time to appreciate the inner proportions and ottonian art works
Saw the Beethoven Violin concerto in this hall. I enjoyed the acoustics, the organisation, and the ease with which they handled a full house. Wonderful experience!! Thankyou!
They have concerts and presentations there all the time and its usually really good stuff. For students its always worth going because of the special student prices.
We've been here a few times now. The seats are great - comfy and well tiered, so you can see the stage from anywhere. The drinks are a little pricy, but nothing in comparison to the English theatres!! I love coming here, even if the occasional show is lacking, the Philharmonie always delivers. Professional, clean, and easy to book. Also,... More
This is a really amazing hall to take in a concert. I have now seen two performances months apart and both were fantastic experiences. It is a world class facility for sure. Round out your experience by having a glass of sekt (sparkling wine) before the performance and at intermission.
A wonderful modern concert hall with superb acoustics. It's worth visiting just to admire the internal architecture - though it looks nothing from the outside!
We were lucky to catch a free half hour concert during our stay and it was well worth the queuing - although we didn't understand the conductors jokes (in German) - the exquisite music itself transcended all language barriers. I think they regularly perform for free at lunchtime - the concerts are advertised on their website.
