You can plan to visit this garden if you are in Cologne and if you have enough time. Might not be the best garden you ever see.

It replaced the original one that was located next to the Cathedral (Dom), where the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) was built in the late 1850s. The new location found in the 1860s was located right next to the zoo of Cologne - and this setting remained unchanged since the official... More

The botanical garden is good but not really awesome. If you have seen Tulip gardens in Holland or gardens in Rome or France then you may not get that impressed. However if you have spare time then you can spend an hour or two here. Especially after getting down from the Cologne Ropeway. At this end of the ropeway, you... More

Right near the zoo, but fat better. And free! The gardens are lovely from the main entrance throughout and offer many types of flowers and plants indoors and out.

The place is spatious, very well maintained and features a variey of plants according to different habitats, including a small pond, a big lake with some water birds, and greenhouses for the plants of warmer climates. There is also a monumental french style garden where the carpet of flowers is changed according to the seasons of the year. In March,... More

The Botanical Gardens are a short Metro ride (4 stops and probably 15- 20 minutes) from the historic section of Cologne. There are numerous small gardens within the grounds. My favorite was the Dahlia collection. The signage is good but in German; but the signs also contains the Latin names if you know your plants.
