Even on a cloudy breezy day, the gardens were beautiful. The park is large and full of plenty of flora from regions around the world. Didn't expect to see flowers in bloom in February but there were many, as well as interesting birds milling about. Definitely recommend if you have some time and want to do some walking

We went here because the Zoo closed early on New Years Eve, but what a wonderful place we found. We walked from the centre of Cologne along the Rhine which took approximately half an hour. You can also catch the train from Cologne centre for about two euros each way and it takes minutes. The train stops right outside the... More

The Flora is the small botanical garden in Cologne. Over decades, it was not well maintained or promoted but a few years back, they decided to invest in the central building and this turned out to be a revival for the entire place. They announced to break down the old green houses (charming but small and not many special plants)... More

We visited the gardens on a sunny December day, it was lovely walking along the bank of the mighty Rhine. Even in December it was pleasant in the grounds, but the glasshouses were superb and it is free !

Even in the depths of winter we fount these to be relaxing and enjoyable. The labelling of plants is exceptional. the tropical and sub-tropical houses are beautifully kept and externally despite it being December there was plenty to see.

You can plan to visit this garden if you are in Cologne and if you have enough time. Might not be the best garden you ever see.

Created in 1864, the Flora is the botanical garden of Cologne. It replaced the original one that was located next to the Cathedral (Dom), where the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) was built in the late 1850s. The new location found in the 1860s was located right next to the zoo of Cologne - and this setting remained unchanged since the official... More

The botanical garden is good but not really awesome. If you have seen Tulip gardens in Holland or gardens in Rome or France then you may not get that impressed. However if you have spare time then you can spend an hour or two here. Especially after getting down from the Cologne Ropeway. At this end of the ropeway, you... More
