A magnificent gothic cathedral. It's UNESCO World Heritage status is richly deserved. For a great view of the intricate spires and roofs, go to the top floor terrace of the neighbouring Roman-Germanic museum. more

It's true. I'm fascinated by the cathedrals of Europe and this one, while not my favorite, does not disappoint. I'm awed by size of the undertaking by men who did not have the benefit of stone saws and cranes - that began their jobs knowing they would never see it to completion... most cathedrals took hundreds of years to complete... more

I've been to the cathedral in Koln a couple of times and it is simply one of my favorite cathedrals to visit. To just sit in the church after walking through it is a joy. The last time I visited the dom (June 2009), it was on a Tuesday afternoon. I'm not sure if the time is significant but when... more

Koln was my entry city into Germany and was worth spending an evening and morning in! The Cathedral is amazing and can be seen by entering Koln by train! The Cathedral is a simple reason why people go to Europe in the first place! It really was one of the most impressive buildings that I have ever seen! It is... more

The Dom is a place you must see if you are in Cologne. The architecture is beautiful. Everywhere you look is something to appreciate, enjoy, and absorb. The stained glass windows were my favorite. There are guide books throughout the cathedral. It is well worth the 2 Euros to pick one up. Even the floor is worth looking at. Mosaics... more

The cathedrale is literally right outside the train station. If you will be passing by Cologne, I would strongly suggest getting off the train and taking an hour or two in the cathedrale. It is stunning and imposing and breathtaking, inside and out. It is one of the most beautiful churches I'v ever seen, and I would rate it higher... more

if you want to go to the top, then make a point of going up early!! it gets quite busy and the stairs are quite narrow, its a long trek and your legs will burn, but its well worth the climb. take a drink of water with you!!! more

We stopped in Koln to visit the Cathedral (Kolner Dom its German name) on a tour of Western Europe in early May 2008. I must say that out of all the incredible cathedrals we visited, Kolner Dom is by far the most impressive and beautiful. It’s not hard to believe that it once was the tallest structure in the world.... more
