This giant Gothic cathedral, which until its completion in 1880 had been under construction for over 500 years, is perhaps Germany's most famous religious structure and includes two huge towers that serve as the defining symbol of Cologne's skyline.

The Cathedral is worth visiting, when you enter into it the scale of the space is really impressive. One of the most important relique that held the church is the remains of the Three Wise Men. The 18:30 mass in the evening is worth going as the organ of the church is played along the mass.

Take your time to climb the 533 steps up the tower. It's well worth it and offers nice views. There are a couple of side steps you can use to take a break to let others pass by as it is a narrow stairway. Remember to use the restroom before starting! :-)

Being a very popular tourist attraction it was full of visitors when we visited, giving the impression of a busy rail terminus in the rush hour! Having said that, the stained glass windows are outstanding particularly those in the south transept and aisle, the crossing window is very modern. The cathedral is home to the relics of the three wise... More

Full of atmosphere as you would expect and architecture that is unmissable. Stained glass windows are a delight to view and the size and enormity of this cathedral has to be seen inside and out.

Cathederal is striking from the outside but for a catholic cathederal rather plain from the inside. It is of course enormous and well worth a visit.

The Dom Cathedral is a must see for visitors to Cologne. The cathedral was built apparently over 600 years and was partially destroyed twice in wars. You can pay an entrance fee and go in the front or climb the stairs to the top. However the climb is over 500 steps and physically demanding so be careful. The baroque style... More

This is a major tourist attraction in Köln, so as a result it is very crowded and hard to get through/take clear photos. However, architecturally BEAUTIFUL! It is incredibly big, and worth seeing. Admission is "free" but donations are appreciated.

if you want to go to the upper most part of the cathedral you need to have stamina, 533 steps up and the same down - but although the bells are worth seeing the views of the city are limited through mesh but whatever it is still worth the trip up, 4 euros for adults 2 for students
