Our hotel room directly overlooked this fountain (it is in the square where the Cathedral is situated). Many tourists stopped by to take photographs and tour groups stopped to discuss it. Once you know the story behind this fountain and stonework of little elves, it makes so much more sense. It is absolutely worth stopping by to have a look... More

Have walked a group to see this statue/fountain, which is very near to Cologne cathedral. It tells the story of the little people who came out at night & did the work for the citizens of Cologne (the tailor, cobbler, baker etc), until one night the tailors wife was so curios that she laid a trail of dried peas, the... We happens to be passing by it and thought it was a bar maid, turns out it's not. But still pretty and details are lovely. A nice size fountain. The gelato place near by was amazing

We came across the fountain having exited the Christmas market by the cathedral. It wasn't a specific trip to the fountain so I hadn't done any research about it. It's very pretty but I don't remember the fountain flowing with water. It's very easy to pass without really paying it much attention. Not sure it's worth visiting specifically but if... More

The fountain is beautiful but even I've passed by it several time,at different moments of the day,I've never seen the water flowing. However,it's not very impressive. Situated in a very central area of the old town, close to the Dom.

Located near the cathedral in a street called "Am Hof", tells the story of all the little Heinzelmännchen or elves who used to help the people of Cologne do their chores at night.. nice place to visit..

I had heard about this fountain after my first trip to Cologne and so I thought I would see it the next time I was there. It's a nice fountain but not worth going out of the way to see--I would probably make it part of a trip to the Fruh Brewery next door.

It was not in our agenda to go to see this fountain, but I read about it before our trip. It happens to be very close to the shopping street and if you find yourself next to it it won't be hard to notice it - I imagined it is something much smaller, but this fountain is big and has... More

If you are a faerie tale lover, visit the Heinzelmannchen Brunnen. It is lovely and tells the story of little elves who did all the work for the people in Cologne whilst they were asleep.
