This is the absolute best area of the city to take a walk, in my opinion. Between the Rhine and the historic Altstadt, the view is gorgeous and there are lots of small things to see, from sculptures over beautiful buildings to the bridges and the other side of the river.

This is very close to the part of town that has left historical feeling with the small narrow streets and narrow houses. cologne is a city where you must walk a lot in order to be able to see all the touristic spots... so, when you need to take a rest during your journey, go to Frankenwerft Park. On sunny days the place is very busy with people eating, running, taking photos or just enjoying the great view of Rhine river.

Frankenwerft is an excellent place to sit down and enjoy the day. It's in the Old Town along the River Rhine where many restaurants are located. Many local people come there as well. During nice days it becomes really crowdy.

We had fun and recomend the Guided Tour through the old stylish brewery houses. The Guide was speeking fluent English a brought us closer to the 'rhythem' of this ancient city! http://www.brauhaustouren-in-koeln.de/
