The building itself is interesting and well worth looking at, but the thing to see is the room with paintings by Macke, a friend of Klee and member of the Rhine expressionists, sadly killed in WW1.His art is colourful and full of joy, with themes like children in the garden, circus visits, a voyage to Tunisia with Klee...There is also... Coming to Kunst Gallery you are greeted with some very good architecture from outside, coming to view the gallery for the price of €7 a ticket, I felt the quantity and breadth of art was slightly lacking. The place is huge and we were forewarned that they were in between changing galleries, but when I think of all the galleries... More

Art is always subjective and it's no question that one either dislikes or likes certain paintings and artwork, but there is always a general ground which can be evaluated. In this case one can evaluate and review the museum itself. The architecture of the museum is very geometrical and at certain points there is a careful attention drawn to some... More

Had I not been to the amazing museums in Cologne and Essen on the same trip I would have likely been content with the collection at this museum. The more contemporary art sections laid out in huge rooms were abysmal for me. The best part was the Macke collection, which is a wonderful treat. But I was surprised at how... More

I have been visiting art galleries for too many years to mention and I have never been treated like a vandal, in any of them, except this on. Room 2, Dont stand closer than 1 meter away from the paintings, you will set the alarm off, Room 3, you must not look at the pictures from an angle only straight... More

The spacious building houses an impressive collection of Rhenish Expressionism (with local boy August Macke at its centre), as well as an interesting overview of German modern art after WWII. The latter requires additional information to be enjoyed and understood in its proper context, and some if it is provided on info leaflets in every room, giving a short introduction... More

The Kuntsmuseum along Bonn's Museum Mile consists of a series of galleries in which its permanent collection of post-modern and impressionist art is exceptionally well displayed, and areas are given over to short-term exhibitions of various media. What we found particularly pleasing and exciting were: (1) the building design, which provides for wide open spaces in which pieces are displayed;... More

Kunstmuseum is located on the Museumsmeile and is easily accessible on the U-Bahn from downtown Bonn or from the opposite direction of Bad Godesberg. The building itself is worth seeing. The August Macke collection is large and there are numerous other impressionists represented. The highlight though is the special Pixar exhibit that chronicles the history of Pixar and all its... We travelled here from the centre of Bonn via the U-Bahn (Underground) which was very easy. We had a tourist day ticket obtained from the Tourist Information Centre in Bonn, which is good value at 9 euros and covered you for 24 hours of travel within Bonn and also the museums/attractions were either free or reduced in price. The Bonn... More
