The house of Beethoven is a travel through history. The house retains everything in its antiquity. The narrow stairs, the old furniture, the odour of the old wood. Everything. What was also fascinating, was the instruments. I agree with one of the previous reviewers. The music would have added a lot to the place.

There is an Information-center. You can imagine Beethoven living there. Guides are available. Near by in the street is a wonderful concert-hall. Important concerts there.

It's amazing to be standing where beethoven lived. You can see manuscrpits signed by Beethonev, as well as his instrumens. Very interesting.

A period house where Beethoven was born on 3 floors (definitely not wheelchair friendly) with very creaky floorboards. Small rooms, each with a theme. There's a lot of correspondence in almost illegible form and music scores in similar vein (thanks to Beethoven's rapid composition style). Not too much English translation but enough to get round and understand the attraction. Museum... More

It was a lovely home with interesting artifacts. Not enough in English. Music was not in each room which I thought was a lost opportunity. Very hot the day we went. Not good for the instruments etc. I imagine. But we'll put together display. The computer lab with website info for kids delighted my 11 year old son and was... More

I found this house very interesting, you can almost hear Beethoven playing, the rooms have a lovely feel and it smells old. Looking at Beethoven's pianos gives the place a magical feel especially when you look at the worn keys which is a weird feeling. There is a small garden too which is very pleasant.

A beautiful opportunity to go through the history of music , and perhaps (depending on schedule ) to listen to live performances of the Beethoven house!

It was pretty interesting to see and learn many aspects about Beethoven's life. We used the audioguides, which in my opinion were absolutely necessary to make Beethoven's house worth a visit. Nevertheless it was very confusing getting those audioguides, because we did not know that before taking them we had to give a deposit for each audioguide, as well as... More

If you are a Beethoven fan, this is a must-do. Fascinating to walk in this great man's footsteps, to be in the rooms where he lived. Definitely worth seeing.

It was quite small but have quite an extensive of collection. It's great to see all the music instruments, piano sheets with Beethoven's own hand writing on display. For those who don't know German, they provide an English brochure for you to refer to. I just wish that their staffs can speak more English, so we could get more details... More
