What could you expect from a visit to the house in which Beethoven was born? Most of it is concerned with information about the preservation of his home especially the generous people who paid for the preservation and the painting of their portraits. World War II efforts to save the house from bombing is fascinating, but not musical. The big... More

The Beethoven House is often praised for it's good display on the life of Ludwig van Beethoven. I took a tour through the house and the information given was average and interpretable when having a little background knowledge on the composer himself. The displays and boards are kept mostly behind sealed glass containers and often display some of the ordinary... More

For me this visit was disappointing. The house in itself is normal, there is not much to see. There was a 3D show which was also below my expectations, although the visual effects were interesting it wasn't very entertaining.

In the heart of Old Bonn, there is this small front of a building that houses the birthplace of Beethoven. It is well preserved (including the creaky floors) with paintings, pianos, manuscripts that either belonged to Beethoven or represent people who were important to him. The brochure they give you in the beginning is fine and I suspect the audio... More

We included a visit to Beethoven's House whilst visiting the Christmas Markets in Bonn and Cologne. This was a thoroughly interesting and enjoyable visit. Staff are friendly and helpful particularly when I was having a few issues with my audio equipment! There are interesting artifacts here once belonging to Beethoven and you could take your time to wander around at... More

I liked going through this humble dwelling where Ludwig van Beethoven was born. The rooms seem tiny and one can hardly imagine that such a great person came into being in such a small room. If you're a Beethoven fan, then it's the place to go to!

This fairly humble and simple place is where Beethoven's family lived and where he was born. There is a serenity and austerity to the place, and I strongly recommend a visit if you are in Bonn. I consider Beethoven's late string quartets, written when he was deaf and ailing badly, to be some of the profoundest utterances of Western man.... More

We were told the Beethoven family had lived in the yellow house for some years. You venture into the beautiful manicured courtyard and enter through a door to be very sternly told to "put your camera away" and apart from being followed around, we found this a very fascinating insight into Ludwig van Beethoven's life. This musuem is two buildings.... More

Interesting looking house with some Beethoven paraphernalia, but as for much of Germany, only explanations in German. Would have liked to have heard a symphony playing in the background while walking around. Shop sold plenty of music and some nice inc knacks

Very poor, if you don't speak German. I had no sense of history at all, its a house of many paintings, three pianos and 5 ear trumpets, with a separate wing for ( literally ) underground playback of music and a computer room where you can browse music and history. There were some other stuff, but Beethoven may have been... More
