Schwerin is a charming little town less than an hour's trip by train from Hamburg. Its main attraction is Schwerin Schloss (Palace or Castle). It is very impressive outside, with large gardens, pavilions, loys of statues and beautiful views of the town and river. Inside, there are lots of magnificent rooms including the Throne Hall. It is definitely worth a... More

The castle was one of two places we wanted to see during our short stay in Schwerin and it was nice. It showcased magnificent antiques, furnishings and art in voluminous rooms displaying German culture and history. The views were beautiful and we would like to return to see the grounds and gardens when they are not covered by winter snow.

Having visited many castles in Germany and throughout Europe, this castle made it to the top 5 of my list. First off, it is nicely situated on an island within a big lake. There are two bridges and therefore different sides from which you can approach this beautiful castle. I especially like the richness of styles and the different facets... More

It really is the Neuschwanstein of the north. Schwerin is a lovely city for spending a day. The crown of the city is of course the Schloss Schwerin and the park and lake surrounding it.

This restored castle is beautiful! We arranged an tour for a group of children and adults and we loved it! The gardens are wonderful! You need to pay a fee to take photos in the castle. Our guide told us the castle is haunted and the children were excited and hoping to see a ghost! We took great group photos... More

Today this gorgeous castle is used as the regional Parliament. You can visit only the museum part and the very beautiful garden around it. It's well preserved with original furniture and art.

Beautifully restored Schloss, now partly used by the local state parliament and the rest as a museum. The turrets and golden gilt help create an over the top Hollywood style fantasy castle. The museum, which includes collections of guns and china, could be left for a rainy day, whilst the adjoining garden is glorious in sunny weather.

The castle and grounds are definitely worth visiting The inside of the castle was a museum and it was just OK. Spend tour time outside in the beautiful gardens.
