Truly fairytale like

The castle is palatial yet romantic. The landscape and view around adds to the fairytale aesthetics. Beautiful place to host a wedding :P

Impressive castle. exhibitions however are not much to speak about. seems mostly to be a blend of whatever they managed for find that related to the place & period. Place was under some restauration while we visited so parts where closed. Very impressive location and exterior.

Schwerin is a stunning romantic palatial castle that sits on its own island, surrounded by gardens and the picturesque lake (Schweriner See). Part of the building is the Landtag (state parliament) of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The rest is a heritage attraction and well worth visiting. Nice cafes on site serve good range of drinks and food. The city of Schwerin is attractive... More

If you are in the area, you really should visit Schwerin Castle. It's not really like Neuschwanstein, but it has history, spectacular rooms - that were really lived in - and a marvellous setting. There is a separate area exhibiting historic porcelain, silver, pictures and firearms in "normal" rooms. The formal gardens, with a grotto and other really interesting features... More

Great place to walk and relax! Very beautiful castle from inside, also with a very beautiful garden. Why 3? because, I couldn't take pictures inside of castle! If you want to, you have to pay 2 or 3 EUR in each pic!

Fairytale castle that is the equal of the better known Neuschwanstein. Spectacular setting on a lake with lovely grounds. The cafe is a pleasant place to have a coffee, we sat outside as it was a perfect day. The interiors are worth seeing as well.

Wonderful place with lovely walk and also great to visit inside. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because one has to pay some 11 EUR at the entrance and for this money you are not allowed to take a picture, not even with an iPhone ! This is something unusual in Germany or WW where they even... More

A castle situated on an island in a lake, romantic grounds and a great place to relax. The castle consists of several parts from different periods and is beautiful inside out. You can easily spend a few hours exploring and if you fancy to stroll a little further afield off the garden grounds you will discover an old mill hidden... More

A very beautiful attraction but with a very high price in relevance to other attractions (f.e in Lubeck) which have much more to show. Also, it worths to be seen by people attracted by fine arts, as there are many portairts of imperators and imperatrices. At least 1.5-2 hours needed to observe each item. Two floors to be seen. Yet,... More

I only had a short time in Schwerin, so just went for a walk in the gardens around the castle. It's an impressive building, and looks great in its setting next to the lake. The gardens were well cared for, even in late December, and it was a very enjoyable place to visit. If I had more time I would... More
