The Gardens have been improved a lot since we first saw them 25 yrs. ago. The plantings are quite lovely, even in late fall. Every season has it's points. Abundant flowers in spring and roses in early summer. Snow in the winter is also magical. The newly opened Schloss Museum houses interesting historical exhibits. Visit the café/restaurant next door. After recently adding the Royal Castle again (which is a modern day conference centre in disguise) the whole of the 4 gardens of Herrenhausen does seem to be more complete now. Still hard to imagine that the huge British Empire has been ruled occasionally from this spot. Plenty of info here http://www.hannover.de/Herrenhausen and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herrenhausen_Gardens (in English).

These gardens go on forever; I hope I get to see them in Springtime. Even in December pansies were still blooming. Acres of endless garden vignettes to delight every garden taste.

This concentrated gardens are beautiful with too many statues. In my view, the historic importance of this garden is more important than its construction. Anyway this garden group are too beautiful in summer. You can feel the relaxation after walking in silent in a sunny day in summer.

Are you visiting Hannover? Then you should definitely check out this garden. It might take half a day to check out everything, but it's worth it. Unfortunately we chose a very cold December day to visit the park, which is not ideal. Because of this we did not visit the whole park. I think this park is at its best... More

I have been to the gardens several times and there is always something to see. This time, my last time here being several years ago, there was the rebuilt palace and a wonderful exhibition on The Georges and the Hanoverian Succession. Beautifully set out and very clear - and the guiide we had was informaitve and friendly. It si great... More

It is a wonderful place to visit especially in the spring or summer. The gardens are very well kept and it is a joy to walk the grounds.

The Old Castle and grounds have been fully refurbished with a lot of TLC! The main gardens and Botanic gardens DO have an admission fee - a December visit did NOT warrant this. It was still an enjoyable visit, and the walk outside of the moat, was still an exercise to be cherished.

Try to visit there on a Saturday specially in summer. Four Saturdays in summer there will be fireworks competition in the evening. With the firework ticket you can visit the garden the whole afternoon and then enjoy the firework, it is just awesome. Even if you do not buy the ticket for firework, if you would be around the garden... More

I think we probably visited at the worng time of the year. Interesting and extensive formal gardens but not much in bloom in October. A variety of lakes and water channels but not much birdlife to excite the visiting birder. Easy to get to from the city centre by tram. Some interesting sculpture and art. I expect it's lovely in...
