A great English garden almost like a mini-Versailles. Best during early summer with the flowers in full bloom and then in late summer when this is the site for the international fireworks competition. Equally wonderful is the Botanical garden opposite the Herrenhausen with the spectacular rhododendrons

The Gardens have been improved a lot since we first saw them 25 yrs. ago. The plantings are quite lovely, even in late fall. Every season has it's points. Abundant flowers in spring and roses in early summer. Snow in the winter is also magical. The newly opened Schloss Museum houses interesting historical exhibits. Visit the café/restaurant next door. After recently adding the Royal Castle again (which is a modern day conference centre in disguise) the whole of the 4 gardens of Herrenhausen does seem to be more complete now. Still hard to imagine that the huge British Empire has been ruled occasionally from this spot. Plenty of info here http://www.hannover.de/Herrenhausen and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herrenhausen_Gardens (in English).

These gardens go on forever; I hope I get to see them in Springtime. Even in December pansies were still blooming. Acres of endless garden vignettes to delight every garden taste.

This concentrated gardens are beautiful with too many statues. In my view, the historic importance of this garden is more important than its construction. Anyway this garden group are too beautiful in summer. You can feel the relaxation after walking in silent in a sunny day in summer.

Are you visiting Hannover? Then you should definitely check out this garden. It might take half a day to check out everything, but it's worth it. Unfortunately we chose a very cold December day to visit the park, which is not ideal. Because of this we did not visit the whole park. I think this park is at its best... More
