I took the U bahn out to the gardens to see them and arrived to be confronted with a sign saying that they were closing early at 5pm and last admission was at 4pm. It was 4.20 and I asked if I could go in for half an hour to have a look round but the staff were singularly unhelpful... More

......but the garden itself will certainly be worth a visit just on it's own.Ticket for the aforementioned party (during approx. 3x4 days each July) seem to be available only in conjunction with a hotel booking. Definitely worth a try....

A fantastic baroque garden, well restored and maintained. The map given with your ticket is inadequate and does not show you the best route to go around, which means there is a lot of retracing of steps. The ticket is valid all day, but make sure you keep it with you or you will be asked to pay again. No... More

These are beautiful gardens - so good I went there twice!!!!!!!! Be warned that the fountains only operate at certain times. these are set out at the entrance. For Brits there is of course the connection to our royal family.

On the day of my visit the gardens were either preparing for, or cleaning up after, a series of shows or exhibitions. Because of this there were half assembled stages everywhere that blocked the views of many gardens and walkways. Many of the fountains were also not working. Not sure if there was a problem with the water system or... More

We visited the gardens in May this year. They are very very nice and I wouldn't miss then when in Hannover. You should wait for the water fountains to go on, as it's a nice spectacle.

Although the weather was overcast and a bit rainy, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Herrenhauser gardens. The big garden is spectacular, with statues, flowers, and intricately patterned hedges. There are also 8 "special" gardens, with different themes. The most impressive sight was the main fountain. This fountain is the highest in Europe, averaging at 65m - although it can... More

Herrenhausen gardens are wonderful. They're very well kept and clean and you can also feel the peaceful atmosphere.. they're wonderful if you are looking for shade and relax under the trees. Nice the squirrels scurrying everywhere! But it has been a pitty not seeing the big fountain in action .. A must in Hanover.

Brilliant. Well worth a visit even if you are not a horticulturalist. It is such an amazing relaxing space.

The Grossgarten is immaculate - all very neat and tidy and with lots of gardeners working on them, mowing, trimming etc. Inside the big garden are lots of individually themed gardens such as the one with the golden statues and the ones which are miniature mazes. There are many 'observation points' where you can see the fountains etc in the... More
