My wife and I, we're on our way to Spain and decided to spend a day in Frankfurt having heard about the old area of the city known as 'Romer' . We were not disappointed the area is full of history and must be visited when you are in Frankfurt.

This is a nice place to see in the summer you have a Festival about every weekend with live music mostly German but you might have some luck and there are other bands. Try some of the local specialty like a Frankfurter wurst (a large hotdog) or something else from another region like black forest ham (schwarzwald schinken), just try... More

I visited Romer in Frankfurt as I was told that this is quite a good place to get souvenirs such as keychains, shirts, traditional german beer mugs and the like to remember your Frankfurt trip by. Romer is a place that looks like traditional Germany. As most of Frankfurt was bombed during the war and had to be re-built, Romer... More

our Frankfurt trip was highlighted by a late afternoon visit and dinning in this square. While construction was occurring it did not detract from the view or visit. In fact, we were able to learn about the post WW2 rebuild of the area through information on some of the new construction.

We took the numbor 5 subway from right in front of our hotel, the grand hessischer hof, to the 4th exit. We came up right in front of an old cathedral that filled us with visions of pomp, elegance, and wonder. After taking two left turns and a short 5 minute walk we arrived at a huge square surrounded by... More

We enjoyed the old town square. So much of Frankfurt is nondescript commercial building so we enjoyed the architecture of the old square. It's a short walk from there to the river and that's a lovely walk and also has cruise boats.

This is actually a stunning old square for Frankfurt. But there is a lot of construction around it, so a little loud and slightly less attractive from a view point of view.

This place reminded me of my city..Nuremberg in central Bavaria with its buildings. But well , it was a good visit since it was near other attractions. Otherwise it is not that special for a dedicated visit. Maybe for a refreshing change from the tall skyscrapers of Frankfurt :)

The old town is tiny ...but it's worth visiting... And it's so close to the main shopping street... So it's worth visiting while staying in Frankfurt... Restaurants there are not recommended

Probably my review is influenced by the wonderful weather we had,but having a drink sat at one of the bistros of that square was a wonderful experience, you can take beautiful pictures at every corner and buy reasonable souvenirs. The city hall dominates the square.
