I visited this area in the night time and was surprised that the bars and streets were full of teenagers drinking and partying... The buildings themselves look great but wouldn't recommend the nightlife there unless you like partying with teens getting drunk for the first time

Made our way here on Friday evening but the place was dead. We tried several bars but most were totally empty or filled with smoke. We eventually found a Columbian bar which although empty had great Latin music playing and the staff were lovely. We managed to eat our way through most of the menu and although a few punters... Dimly lit streets are a bit off putting when you are two ladies tourists looking for a place to eat. All bars have smoking allowed, so to avoid this, we found a restaurant bar. Once they finish serving food though, the ashtrays come out. Sol Rey nice Colombian bar that serves authentic Colombian food. Really nice fun staff.

I've just moved to Sachsenhausen, and I absolutely love the neighbourhood. The Alt (Old) Sachsenhausen area is simply buzzing at night, with lots of restaurants and bars frequented by locals and tourists alike. My favourite is the old Apfelwein bars, where you can drink apple "wine" (cider) from Bembels (big ceramic jugs) as the Frankfurters do. Some of the old... More

We came here in the morning and had a walk around. Many old and interesting buildings but everything was closed up. Perhaps it slows down during the winter months but we were unable to try the specialties of this area. Still a walk from the suburban train station back to the river through this area was a pleasant way to... More

What is good about an quarter if it doesn#t offer good food? Well, the old fashioned food in the traditional restaurants may require some getting used to but I, for one, took to it as if I had always wanted heated appelwine and salted beef.

Full of character, charm and well worth a visit. Visit Klappergasse (centre of the apple wine quarter) and wander down narrow, cobbled streets full of different kinds of public houses. A blast from the past!
