Having visited Sachsenhausen on two occasions I have to say I've always liked the laid-back feeling of the cosy little alleys and the choice of pubs, bars and restaurants. One can find the typical Frankfurter apfelwein-restaurants, modern chain restaurant, sports bars etc. really anything that can be fitted in the old town style of building I'd guess.

Spent the best part of a week in Frankfurt in July 2013 - and despite having been to the city many times before, this was my first time in Sachsenhausen. It felt like a bit of a hike getting there (we walked) but there is ample public transport to get you there and back easily. We wandered mid-afternoon and decided... More

Many bars and restaurants in a pedestrian area between old houses. Very nice and happy atmosphere in the evening.

Interesting area if you want to drink and party. However we could not detect any historical relevance, as it seemed to only cater for drinking!

Has seen better days. The area is not typically German anymore but is now filled with Middle Eastern and Oriental restaurants and Clubs. Were hard pressed to find an authentic German restaurant; after a bit of searching, asking taxi drivers and people in the street finally located a restaurant with adequate, not great, local fare. Pretty dead during the day;... More

We were on a stag do and this was quite popular with others doing the same. Plenty going on and lots of drinking options.

Sachsenhausen is an interesting heighourhood with a lot of bars and restaurant. I walked from the city, Zeil, down to Sachsenhausen on a sunny Saturday afternoon and it was just lovely to see how beautiful the residential area is. Went into one of the bars to watch some football games before getting dinner in one of the very authentic Frankfurt... More
