If you ever get bored in Frankfurt, then go to Sachsenhausen to taste the local beer and get hammered. The Germans are funny, friendly and crazy. (Tip: avoid Shooters and the "kamikaze" shot.)

Great place to sample German beer in local taverns. Close to the subway as well. We killed an afternoon here on a long airport layover.

Having visited Sachsenhausen on two occasions I have to say I've always liked the laid-back feeling of the cosy little alleys and the choice of pubs, bars and restaurants. One can find the typical Frankfurter apfelwein-restaurants, modern chain restaurant, sports bars etc. really anything that can be fitted in the old town style of building I'd guess.

Spent the best part of a week in Frankfurt in July 2013 - and despite having been to the city many times before, this was my first time in Sachsenhausen. It felt like a bit of a hike getting there (we walked) but there is ample public transport to get you there and back easily. We wandered mid-afternoon and decided... More

Many bars and restaurants in a pedestrian area between old houses. Very nice and happy atmosphere in the evening.

Interesting area if you want to drink and party. However we could not detect any historical relevance, as it seemed to only cater for drinking!

Has seen better days. The area is not typically German anymore but is now filled with Middle Eastern and Oriental restaurants and Clubs. Were hard pressed to find an authentic German restaurant; after a bit of searching, asking taxi drivers and people in the street finally located a restaurant with adequate, not great, local fare. Pretty dead during the day;... More
