We stayed in a hotel in Hafen City, so walked around here a lil. It is not completely finished yet, so there is a lot of constructions going on still - on weekend they have days off so is more quit. I really loved the huge and wide promenades, buildings with glasses and lovely little shops and restaurants with nice... More

Well i can't tell too much,i see just a lot of warehouses, maybe there was more but a lot of them become very new complex buildings, with offices and other stuff. The old buildings can give kind of feeling that you are living in the industrial revolution.

I loved the place. It's not beautiful, it's certainly not the heart of Rome or Paris, or monumental in scale - apart from the excellent Maritime Museum - so if you're easily bored and you expect full tilt glamour and a constant parade of wonders, try somewhere else. What I found was a quiet, stress free jumble of modern architecture... More

This is a completely 'newly born' very centrally located district of Hamburg, much of it being built on Islands and land reclaimed from the port on the River Elbe. The Speicher-Stadt or district of Old Warehouses (as per the photo) are built on the edge of what is now 'Hafen (Harbour/Port)-City', they stem from the 18th/19th Centuries and add a... More

I visit Hamburg and the Hafen City area a few times a year, and it really is fascinating to watch this old warehouse district emerging as a thriving residential, commercial and retail populated city from under your very feet. Every time I go back some new district or block is up and others are on the way. There is a... More

Hafencity is the port city of Hamburg. A very well designed and even better maintained, you can just not miss its ambience and elegance. Better than other world-known port cities like Mumbai, Tokyo, Singapore, New York or London, you may feel spending more time just walking around and looking at the magnificent warehouses, eateries from the world over and an...
