Vibrant riverside area of Hamburg with restored quayside buildings in which are housed cafes, bars, tourist shops. Riverside walks from which to view old ships moored up, dry docks and numerous types of shipping on the River Elbe including container ships, cruise liners, ferries zipping to and fro and even a paddle steamer. You can catch harbour ferries or sightseeing... More

Unless you go for a boat trip from there I think you have nothing special to do in this place. A lot of coffee and crepes shops but also crowds of people running around - a lot of fuss.

This is Hamburg's St. Pauli, THE Hamburg icon! Harbor, ships, boats, harbour cruises on 100 year old barks, several museum ships like the Rickmer Rickmers or the Cap San Diego; many fish restaurants, the world famous Fishmarket nearby; excellent public transportation to and from the location.

We liked this very busy place, because it shows that Hamburg is called the gate to the world and there you can see the big ships as messengers of the world. We took ferries and went on tours along the river Elbe and through the port, just great!

Whenever I am in Hamburg I enjoy a visit to the Landungsbruecken and usually take a short boat trip from there to Teufelsbrueck. There is always a great atmosphere with lots of restaurants and souvernir shops. From the Landungsbruecken one can also take the ferry across to the theatre to see "The Lion King". Definitely worth a visit and so... More

A bit touristic, but still nice. Get on a boat and enjoy the harbor views. The are also some souvenir shops and some fischbrot stands where you can get some fish in a baguette, tasty fish and chips or fried calamari

Spent some time here after a harbour tour. There are some interesting plaques around the bridges telling of refugees during and after the Second World War. The shops offer local tourism souvenirs and a great range of postcards. If you are travelling with a loved one, take a padlock to attach to the bridge and leave as your memento.

This Harbor is the third biggest in the world. Its worth going if you haven't seen it before. There are lots of beautiful big boats and lots of fine places to dine. Only problem I had was all the wind which obviously was only temporary!

There are many harbors throughout the world, and I've been fortunate enough to have lived in and visited many wonderful ones: San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Southampton, Copenhagen, etc. What sets Hamburg apart is its sense of being a small town when it is a major metropolis and its feeling of being on a major sea body when... Depending on the time of day you visit, there0s plenty to do and see. Take a boat trip or just go for a drink or a meal.
