Hamburg is pretty far north in Germany and is a major port for commerce. It is interesting in that you can see a lot of vessels coming and going. There is a restaurant area as well which is very nice. We did a lot of walking and this was one area we included. Get to know Hamburg and include this... More

the piers are a main tourist attraction in Hamburg. So do not expect to be alone there. Actually there is not much to see except two, three interesting buildings and the boads on the pier, many turned into restaurants. But it is a nice stroll along the river, if only the restaurant boats would not smell from fried fast food,... More

Went aboard a Rainer Abicht tour ferry. The guide was well versed and constantly swopped between English and German as we embarked on the 1/2 mile berthing pontoon. When you look down onto the pontoon this is where the Information Office is located but you need to walk down to the pontoon to locate it you cannot see from the... More

If you jump on ferry 62 and your all day travel pass allows this you can see Hamburg from some unusual views. The ferry boat goes up and down the River Elbe dropping off at various destinations. The pier area down by LANDUNGSBRUCKEN is really good, nice little cafe's here to grab a quick snack or a refreshing beer. You have... More

I was born in this cosmopolitan city and my grandfather worked on various freighters. Am very familiar with this area. It was clean, not changed too much and reasonably priced.

There is nothing interesting to see. Just an industrialized harbour. I can't understand why somebody could be interested to walk around there. It's simply boring

average.. you can take the ferry from the dock n°3,( is free of charge for owners of the "hamburg card") and make some stops along the river or go to the other side.. very busy on Sundays. nicer in summer than in winter, sure.
