Lush, well-designed, well-tended and obviously appreciated by the locals. It's an inviting garden, with lots of benches, shelters for the rain, meandering paths and the sound of laughter.

The garden is very beautiful. The time flies when you are visiting this garden. The garden decor is very good. When you visit Hamburg do not forget this garden, a rest in this busy town.

The gardens and surrounding park are a wonderful way to relax while in Hamburg.even on the rare 80 degree day in Hamburg the park and gardens were not crowded. The gardens are free and showing a variety of plants with a multitude of individual micro climates.

My favourite area in Hamburg - built across the old city walls and a chance to take a wak in the park starting at the river Elbe (At the Landungsbruecken (Wallanlagen) and continuing around the city and then swing left into the old botanical garden - now "Planten ind Blomen" (plants and flowers). If you visit the city with children,... More

We had a few extra minutes before having to go somewhere, so we walked back there and discovered music, food carts, and great scenery to fill a whole afternoon of lounging.

I heartily enjoyed visiting the Alter Botanischer Garten. It is very large so I did not have time to view all of it. The area of the garden we visited was divided into different areas of the world and their different climates. Representing the US was a rainforest, prairie and cacti garden. There were alpine gardens, African, South American, Japanese...... More

The garden is large, so leave some time to see it all. I found the succulents to be the top view. Cactuses are great!

Beautifully landscaped and meticulously maintained gardens. Something for everyone. Runners, families, garden enthusiasts. Lots of little cafes are dotted around the park. Lots of different paths to walk through and take in the different features that make this park special. Close to conference centres.
