Not just a landmark for Hamburg, but really a very beautiful and impressive building. The square in front somehow failed to live up to its full potential, especially in the evenings, when it's fairly deserted.

This amazing building reminded me to my home town's major's building. The door handles and the walls have also had Hamburg's symbol. Stunning place, must see. There are tours every hour and entry fee is very reasonable. One of my favourites!

Nice area with plenty of central bars and cafes around it. The building itself is typical German architecture. Very impressive and a good photo opportunity.

As a free city run by its bourgeoisie, Hamburg developed a reputation for being a bit sober-sided in its public buildings, but you would never know it from this place. Built in the last decades of the 19th century, the builders set out to emulate the opulence of the Renaissance. The result is an architectural showpiece which looks much older... More

It is well worth the time to book the tour and adjust your schedule to the tour's availability. I would say our guide's English skill was not the best and when members of our group asked her questions there was many times she didn't have the answer. Despite that the guide had enough information to fully describe the beautiful building... More

The Rathaus in Hamburg has been restored and kept to original design, which was the inspiration for some in the GB, including Manchester, maybe! Great photo opportunity, and you will see the memorials in the square outside too. The trees in the square are pol larded in typical German style. Just a short walk to the Alster for lovely lake... Hamburg Rathaus (Town Hall) is a beautiful building in the heart of the city. The square extends to the water, and there are many swans nearby that give the area some extra charm. There is a street along the water with many shops and cafes, and I'd recommend having a coffee and cake with a view of the Rathaus. I... More

Fantastic sightseeing in and around this amazing grandiose building. The exterior is splendid and the interior has a lot of heritage to take in. We went on a Tuesday and there were no guided tours available. It would be fantastic to go on a tour through the building if possible. Look up when they operate. The area in and around... More
