The Speicherstadt ("Warehouse Complex") was once the heart of Hamburg's commercial free port, where enormous quantities of cocoa, green coffee, oriental carpets, nuts and seeds, spices, tobacco and other products from overseas were stored and processed. The red-brick architecture of the late 19th century has largely been preserved, but most of the old buildings are now occupied by cafés, museums,... More

The warehouse district has a very special atmosphere and vibe. The buildings are old, but due to the new Harbour city there is a very unique mixture out of old and traditional warehousebuildings and modern and very classy new buildings. There a some fancy restaurants and cafes and I can recommend to visit the International Maritim Museum and the Prototype... More

This area of town reminds me of the Albert Dock district in Liverpool.what to do with these huge warehouses, reuse them. Commerce, restaurants, specialty museums, (toys, trains) and galleries.it has a good vibe. I loved the coffee shopwith all the sacks lying around. Can't remember the name.

Just walk around this lovely area of Hamburg where much sympathetic restoration has taken place - again comfortable walking shoes essential and drink in the atmosphere.

Beautiful area and being used and regenerated to make it actually useful and an attraction. What a place. There is so much going on in the area from galleries to restaurants to attractions that it is a must see.

the buildings here are simply beautiful: all the lovers of industrial architecture will be happy to visit this area. The canals and bridges give it a romantic atmosphere. Some nice bars and restaurants.
