The walled terraces below the palace are the closest you will come to the hanging gardens of Babylon. We loved it, the great fountain, the brilliant flower beds, the space for wandering, the lovely old trees, the gilded statues.

Beautiful lush green gardens (just visited in May) and lots of open space. The palaces provide an exceptional experience and in between relaxing in the park and wandering the endless paths makes for a fantastic day. Be sure to check out the windmill and especially Sanssouci Palace and the Neues Palais at the other end, both are absolutely stunning! Beautiful...

The above title just about sums it up! We were there in October, when some of the leaves were starting to change, and it added a beautiful and colorful depth to the gardens. There are statues and structures hidden throughout, which add to the beauty and awe of the park. Plan on giving yourself plenty of time -- the park...

A huge and beautiful park, with several Palaces included. A very nice place to visit and walk, even in winter. In spring must be spectacular due to the huge variety of trees, plants and flowers!
Terrific place to go for a long, leisurely walk. The gardens and grounds are delightful! We visited in the fall and the colors were awesome. I would certainly return; great p[lace to spend a leisurely afternoon walking and then have a beverage in one of the nearby beer gardens.
We went in late March 2013. Most of the statues were covered over, I guess to protect them from the freezing conditions.
The route around the park taking in all the palaces and orangerie is about 3.5 miles. Allow upto an hour an half to walk round and appreciate the views.
The paths are all cobbled/ square type or sand....

Great parc close to Potsdam City, nature, history, english gardenart, perfect for strolling around in springtime and autumn.
especially in the snow. We enjoyed the walk down from Sanssouci palace down through the park into Potsdam. The only downside was a rude and over-officious security person who demanded, without explanation, that I delete two photos that he had crept into. Clearly, he is in the wrong job, but reflects badly on the Park's administration.
Obviously in the winter a garden looks very different. I went on a quick stroll through the park after visiting the Sanssouci Schloss. Quick not only because it was cold, but also because there wasn't much to see. The statues were covered to resist the strains of the weather, the fountains were empty, the flower beds were covered or empty......

Arrange to visit the area for a whole day to be able to see most of the area. There are a number of palaces and the grounds themselves.
The area requires much walking so plan to wear comfortable shoes.
Also, buy the day ticket for all the palaces, as it is much more economical and allows you to visit many...
