Great way to see Berlin. Our guide was an American who was very knowledgeable on German/ Berlin history and culture. It was a pretty chill ride through the city on a nice solid bike. Learned a lot about the city and even got to stop for a giant beer and a bite at a Biergarten.

I literally cannot explain how good this tour is. As somebody who tends to like to visit places on my own terms and would rather do things in my own time I was slightly apprehensive about going. I felt comfortable the second our tour guide, the lovely Marron (so sorry if I've spelt that wrong), started speaking. She was fun,... More

This is a great company. Energetic, enthusiastic , knowledgeable , helpful beyond their need , English speaking guides, who have time to explain, the history and sights of this fascinating city. We were amazed that the bike tour was 5 hours, and covered so much of the city and its history, this is great value for the 26 euro. Lunch... More

I did the tour with Marian (Marion? Mary? I'm sorry I don't know how to spell your name!!) and she was the best! She wasn't too tour guide-y and she was always so happy and active, which was very important especially for the weird weather we had during our tour. She made sure everyone was there when she was talking... More

We did the City Tour with Ciaran, and we all loved it. The bicycles was good. The route was good. The lunch in Biergarten was good. thanks to Ciaran who really did a great job. He is very knowledgable, could easy explain a lot of history and took good care of us all during the day. will for sure recommend... More

I've been traveling around for about a month now. And have done a zillion tours. What better way to see an unfamiliar city, right? Well, hands down, Fat Tire Bike Tours in Berlin is one of the absolute best. So much of the tour experience depends on the guide. And I can imagine it takes a lot to wrangle a... More

The point if cycling to us was to try to see lots without having to have too much rest to nurse aching feet. We did a third Reich tour and a tour if Potsdam. Both of the guides were very good. Ronan clearly knew a lot although the tour was very focused on the Jews, rather than everything about the... More

I was recommended this tour by a very good friend of mine and to say the least a bit sceptical of how good this was going to be. My daughter Ellie was also accompanying me and I wasn't sure it would hold her attention. But boy was I wrong. Andrew was our guide,. He was articulate, amusing, affable and awe... More

Tour guide Brian is extremely knowledgeable in history. The first tour we took was the general Berlin tour. It was so well done that we decided to take the Third Reich tour with Brian the next day. Both tours well run. He made sure everyone was together when he explained the different sites we went to. It was obvious that... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
