Finding myself on my own one of my evenings in Berlin I managed to join up with the diner tour at the last minute thanks to Andrews accommodating nature. What a great way to spend an evening! We did the 'Day CityTour' with our 2 kids, 10yrs and 8yrs. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the tour, the pace was perfect, just long enough spent at each place of interest, Simon our guide was excellent, sharing interesting anecdotes on each site and happily sharing his passion for the city. Would thoroughly recommend it!

Fat Tire Bike tours in Alexanderplatz is a terrific way to see the main attractions in Berlin, identify their locations and then you can decide which one to go back to and spend more time visiting. The staff are ultra friendly, Thanks Simon for guiding us, great fun and give you a real feel for what Berlin is about. The... More

My husband and I booked this bike day trip from Berlin to Potsdam. It was a treat! Potsdam is a charming place, the lunch location was the BEST and the day was the highlight of our trip. Andrew was our guide and absolutely the most fun guide we've had on any tour in any city we've visited. The train ride,... More

A group of us did the tour and it covered all the main sights we wanted to see in just a few hours (Reichstag, Berlin Wall, Holocaust Memorial etc), and was far more interesting than sitting on a bus or doing a walking tour. We were not cyclists back home but still managed fine on the tour as the vast... More

My wife and I have taken three of Fat Tire's various Berlin tours, and we think they are fantastic. I recently took Brian's "Third Reich" tour in which he took us to very interesting sites that I NEVER would have run across otherwise. Brian is very knowledgeable and could answer everyone's questions in as much detail as the asker wanted.... More

We decided to do the Cold War bike tour. We had been to Berlin a few times in the past but stuck to the usual tourist bits. This bike tour took us a little bit off the usual track to see more of East Berlin as well as hear about how the Ossies lived in the Soviet Sector. Our tour... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
