As the temperature was forecast to rise above 30 degrees it was with some trepidation that we arrived at the meeting point. Our guide, Beth, a German history graduate from Wales, soon fired us up with her enthusiasm and knowledge as she expertly guided us to the hotspots - but in the shade. We walked and listened and chatted for... More

We did the sachsenhausen tour today in 90+ degrees and I'd still give it a 5 star rating especially because our tour guide David was top rate! We were met at Zoo station, as told we would be, by two lovely young women, and then one, Alice, escorted two groups (Berlin wall and sachsenhausen) on subway, to our respective guides.... More

This tour was a fantastic leap into the history of Berlin. Caroline presented an informative tour which included short talks which provided us with an insight into the life and personality of Frederick the Great. We heard about the Wannsee conference, the Potsdam Conference between Stalin, Churchill and Truman at Cecilienhof, wandered through Potsdam and Sans Souci. Caroline is a... More

This was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyable. Lots of walking but also some train and bus journeys which means we covered a lot of territory. Our guide Caroline was fantastic. She was so knowledgeable about Nazi and Cold War history but also gave good insights into the backgrounds of both. She looked after us very well and made sure we knew... More

Our guide Emily was very fluent in both german and english and knew everything there was to know about the locations as well as the early days of Nazism. Learnt quite a bit on the tour, and being a history buff it was great to see these buildings first hand. The tour finishes at the topography of terror at around... More

We did the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Tour with Original Berlin Walks. It is a must do when visiting Berlin. Our guide was Pip - she was very knowledgable and treated the tour with great respect. It is a big day of walking so wear good shoes and bring food and water.

It was my first time in Berlin and I was overwhelmed by the history and number of sites I wanted to see. Kevin was our tour guide and he was great. His knowledge of history was tremendous and his enthusiasm for historical details was contagious. I highly recommend this tour and in particular this guide. Berlin's history is culturally rich... After a rather confusing start (from Zooloogishe Garten we took a train to meet the other half of the group), we met with Jonathan, who turned out to be an excellent guide on the 3rd Reich tour. The tour was informative, good length, not too exhausting, yet interesting. The highpoint of the tour was our guide Jonathan, who has a... More

We were so lucky to have Jesse as our tour guide - an american living in Berlin and studying German! He not only knew loads of stuff about all the places we visited, but - as he's a history major - could answer every question we threw at him. He was engaging, and entertaining - heaps of fun we wanted... More

I chose to joined the original walking tour #1, which took me to the main sights of the city. All in all about 4 hours walking at a very comfortable pace. Our guide Alex was outstanding. He loved the city. He loved what he did. And he did it very well. It's a neat little activity.

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
