Took the "Discover Berlin" tour with Leland as our guide. It provided a great overview to some of the more memorable sights, plus some of Leland's Personal favorites in this 4 hour walking tour. I would recommend this tour if you only have a short time in Berlin and want to see the main attractions. OR if you have a... More

Went on Berlin walking tour. We covered lots of historical areas. Our guide, Beth, was very knowledgeable and gave a thorough description of the places we visited. Really enjoyed the walking tour. Tour was 4 hrs long but really enjoyed every minute of it.

I took a Sunday morning "Discover Berlin" tour with Kathryn. It was a great way to orient myself to the city on my first day there. Kathryn was absolutely wonderful--her passion for Berlin's history allowed the tour to be both informative and entertaining. I left the tour wanting to soak in more Berlin and to be friends with Kathryn!

Travelling in a group of 7, 17/18 year olds, we thought to take the third reich tour of Berlin. Nicolai proceeds to entertain, engage and educate a group of twenty for 5 hours (bar 20mins for lunch), with the tour spanning half the city. Impressed and informed. This comes highly recommended.

Sensitively handled tour of a tragic place. Our guide Dennis was knowledgeable and knew how to tell a story that kept us fascinated throughout. His choice to base the history on the experiences of one prisoner helped us to emotionally engage with a difficult subject. Dennis' ability to make the themes accessible, even to our children, was very impressive. The... More

One of the most informative and best intro to Berlin sights, our guide was a young, knowledgeable (German history major) university lady hailed from Wales, named Beth. If I had more time, I would have joined other walking tours with her. Anyone who likes walking would find this particular tour so satisfying and a real bargain!

A four hour tour of Berlin sounds like it could be hellish but this was an interesting and well informed tour that gave us a fascinating insight in to the history of Berlin from its humble beginnings to the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall from someone who clearly had an interest in the subject and a talent for... Just finished a four hour walking tour with Kevin. On of the best tours and tour guides we've ever had and we've done hundreds of tours. Kevin is knowledgable and interesting and showed us parts of Berlin we had never seen. (We lived here for two years.). Skip the other tours; this is the one you want.

I had the cold war tour with Yan who clearly really knew his subject, being brought up in Germany during the cold war probably helped, and also his enthusiasm and humour made the trip whizz by. I also took the day trip to Dresden with Alex. The Dresden day trip is a good day out from Berlin, about two and... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
