Although this was a very sad place to visit, I could not have asked for a better guide than Dennis for a tour of Sachsenhausen concentration camp, just outside of Berlin. He was very well-informed and a passionate story teller. We toured Europe for several weeks and went on a lot of tours and this one was the best experience... More

This 4 hour walking tour is a great introduction to the major sites and highlights of the city. RICK, our guide was excellent, and he made the tour very interesting and informative. You never felt as though he was not rushing round the tour, allowing plenty of time for questions and answers. We really felt he genuinely enjoyed what he... More

I was on the Third Reich tour with Jim, who was the perfect host and a genuine expert on German history. The weather was wet and cold unfortunately, and half way through I asked my teenage daughters if they wanted to continue - they both insisted that they wanted to go on. I think they learnt more in 4 hours... More

Good points - all main sites covered as well as little points of interest along the way - knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide who answered questions fully and comprehensively (thanks Jonathan) - it was paced well so although there was lots of walking, it didn't feel too onerous - Jonathan recommended places to back to and advised how much time you... I made the right decission by choosing this tour with Kevin. He gave us excellent historical explanations and good tips; he was also generous in time as the tour lasted 5 hours. We spent a very nice morning and recommend English speaking visitors to try this tour in Berlin with him.

Excellent tour! Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide, Jim. Our tour lasted for 5 hours, full of history and stories. Best value for money. Definitely worth every penny of it.

We spent a fascinating 4 hours walking around Berlin with Beth as our guide. Who made the history of Berlin come to life with her anecdotal and abundant knowledge of the city and its history. Suggest this tour is not to be missed - forget the hop-on, hop-off bus tours, this is so much better - you really get a... More

We were strugglin to plan into our trip visiting the important sites until we came across this fantastic walk. 3 hours (that goes nowhere!) with a short coffee break and we covered everything we wanted. Lorna our guide was amazing, kept the crowd upbeat and really hit home the importance of historical events, so much that i forgot how bad... More

We had a really fantastic time on this tour with Beth as our guide. Although four hours seems like a long time, it absolutely flew by and we learned a lot! Great way to see a lot attractions with useful information along the way. It was particularly good at places where there isn't a lot of information available to read.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
