Insider walking tours are an excellent way to get acquainted to the city. Young people, university graduates usually, with good English, are leading the groups. Matti was our tour guide for the Famous Berlin Tour. He is an excellent guide, very professional, knowledgeable in history, and passionate. He offered us many information and left no question unanswered. This is a... More

We went on the famous walk with inside tour a few weeks ago in Berlin with Taylor as our tour guide. He was very friendly, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable on the city and its history. Would definitely recommend this tour with Taylor! We had a great introduction to the city.

Great tour if you're only in Berlin for a short while and want to see all the highlights of this wonderful city. Barnaby (tour guide) gave a fantastic tour with his knowledge of the city, historic commentary and humour! Highly recommend this to anyone coming to Berlin.

It takes around 4 hours but it's worth every minute. The guide takes you to some famous places and some you will never find on your own, but don't let me spoil the fun for you. Our guide, Taylor was great, the Aussie accent helps :-) The tour was highly interactive we had a lot of fun, but also found... More

A fantastic tour, taking in all the major sites, at the very reasonable price of €12. Our tour guide Michael was extremely helpful. Not only did his passion for Berlin shine through but his self deprecating sense of humour made the tour even more enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend!

I only had one day in Berlin and so limited tim eto see the sights - what a great way to see the main attractions and Jamie's local knowledge and in depth historical insights made it one of the best experiences of my holiday - well done Jamie.

The tour took 5 hours which included a half-hour break for coffee, but there were numerous stops along the way for our guide, Finn, to give us a great deal of information about Berlin past and present. Finn was a mine of information about Berlin and its history, with just the right mix of serious stuff and entertaining anecdotes. We... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
