Great tour to the Saschenhausen Concentration Camp. The tour guide Cesar explained things in great detail, including the historical background of what Germany was like when the camp was built. Especially I like his humanistic touch when he talked about why people would do terrible things like that, so he was not only just giving us facts about the camp.

This is a really long day with a lot of walking. The concentration camp is about an hour outside Berlin and you will need to get an ABC travel card or use your welcome card. Our guide Jared was very knowledgeable but it felt as though we were being lectured to. I would have preferred if he kept his talk... More

Matti gave us a great walking tour of Potsdam. Really is an insider as he was born and raised in Berlin. I would highly recommend him.

Amazing tour of the Sachenhausen Concentration Camp and a brilliant tour guide, Cesar. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, it was incredibly interesting and our tour guide was as well as profoundly knowledgable on the subject, was easy to listen to, talk to and simply easy going. An intriguing and fascinating tour and a fantastic tour guide!

Four friends and I took the 'Famous Insider Walk' with our guide Jamie on our visit to Berlin in August 2015. Being a relative tour 'newbie' I was a bit dubious at first as 4 hours sounded like a long time but at no point during the tour did I feel bored or wished things would speed up. Jamie had... More

We went on the famous walking tour today and it was brilliant! JJ our guide was informative and funny, making the whole tour enjoyable. He even included our little girl which was lovely. This definitely a must do as you get to see so many of the sights and learn lots about this vibrant city.

We decided to come on this tour after seeing a brochure, we had no idea how highly it were rated on tripadvisor - but after doing the tour it totally deserves the number 1 spot! Jared was an incredible guide, our 4 hour tour actually went for over 4.5 hours because we had lots of questions and Jared was so... More

We went on the Famous Insider tour in August. Brian was absolutely FANTASTIC. We were on the tour for 5.5 hours however it was definitely worth it. We were only in the city for 3 days so we covered a lot in a little time. Brian was so passionate and knew every small detail about the tour. We found out... More

This tour absolutely made our holiday. Our tour guide Brian Deedrick was amazing, with his knowledge and passionate energy, and love for the city. It was like we were in an interactive theatre performance, where he made the city and the characters come to life around us. We listened, spellbound, for a full five hours, and my young son was... Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
