Barry was our guide and a very knowledgeable one at that. He made the tour very interesting and it was obvious that he felt we must know every detail about each site we visited. I must say he cared about his group to the point that at the end of the tour,he made sure everyone knew how to get back... More

Brilliant. Our tour guides Shlomit and Asaf were very knowledgeable, entertaining and very helpful. The trip was uneventful with all instructions clear. The tour to Dresden from Berlin proved one of the most informative ones that I have done. One of the added touches was that, on the way back in the bus, both Asaf and Shlomit wandered up and... All the famous and important history hotspots are covered by Barnaby with knowledge, passion, charm and where appropriate, wit. He makes you feel like he's showing you his Berlin and he's really excited to do so. It's past and present, professional and personal, the... More

Did the 4-hour walking city tour today with Barnaby. He was a great, knowledgeable guide who has a passion for his craft and keeps the day entertaining. One of the best tours I have ever done with, by far, one of the best guides.

On Tuesday morning we joined the Famous Walks tour led by Jamie. It lasted just over 4 hours and covered everything from the history of Berlin to the important sites. Jamie's knowledge of Berlin was impressive and he skilfully handle a group of 19 people. It was an enjoyable and informative start to our trip to Berlin.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
