If you do one thing during your stay in Berlin make sure it is an insider tour. Myself and my Dad enjoyed a Hitler/WWII walking tour this morning meeting outside McDonald's (Zoo Station) at 10am.. Our guide was Barnaby who really helped bring the tour to life with his depth of knowledge blending well with his dry sense of humour... More

What's the best way to see Berlin? By foot! We did the Famous walk by Insider tour lead by Taylor. At first he introduced himself and we found out that he came from Australia. Ohh boy....an Aussie in Berlin? And he has to teach us the historical facts? Well.....from the first minute till the last he kept everyone hanging on... More

I had an amazing experience on this tour. It covered the history of all the main sites of Berlin and my tour guide, Taylor, was extremely knowledgeable and kept the tour interesting and fun the whole time. Taylor told us detailed stories about the history of every site we went to and really made the history of Berlin come to... More

We've been travelling europe for two months now and the insider tour famous walk was by far the best deal that we've encountered. For only 18 euros we had a four hour walking tour with a very informative guide. We recieved a lot of information about sites that we never would have known had we not taken the tour. We... More

This review is two weeks' late but must give due credit to J.J. our guide. Our 4 hours with him went by quickly. Funny, knowledgable and a great communicator/teacher. Had a great time and overview of Berlin.

Lots of tour companies offer tours in Berlin but you should go with Insider Tours because Cesar is an awesome tour guide. I took his tour of Sachsenhausen Concentration camp and it changed my life. He taught us the important background information and lead us for about 6 hours through a great site. He made the site come alive and... More

My daughter and I recently spent a weekend in Berlin. As this was our first visit, we were anxious to see as much of the City as possible. This walking tour had been recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Our guide Taylor was a mine of useful and informative knowledge on the history of Berlin. His descriptions brought... More

I would highly recommend the Famous Insider Walk tour. All the main sites are covered and if you are lucky enough to get Taylor as your guide the 4 hours will fly by and you won't care about your aching feet. Taylor was very informative and very witty without being cringeworthy. His anecdotes where a highlight and his enthusiasm for... More

I did two Insider Tours while in Berlin. First, we did the city walking tour which was great. Our guide was very informative and it was helpful to get oriented in such a HUGE city. Having a guide made it so much more interesting. The second tour we did was the guided tour through Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Our tour guide's... More

Blown away by this tour! The tour covers a lot of ground, literally and metaphorically, which with any other guide might have felt like a marathon - achingly arduous; but the guide (Michael) was a delight and between the in-depth history (complete with visual aids) and the compelling presentation, I was left at the end of the tour wishing there... Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
