The Rathaus and the Altstadt were very beautiful. The whole area had a small village feel and the locals were very friendly.

Went to Spandau on a Sunday and there was a wine festival taking place which was worth a visit. Stopping for coffee/tea with lovely cakes was very reasonable (€3 for 2 teas and cakes) Didn't feel very welcome though in the altstadt as a visitor. Other areas of Berlin are better.

very extensive Market, lovely and varied selection of merchandise. A couple of nice welcoming pubs too. What has Spandau ever done to deserve being twinned with Luton???

Historic Spandau is best thought of as a quaint village dropped into urban Berlin. You can easily imagine being far out in the countryside while you tour Spandau. The central plaza has a Farmers Market on certain days and many fine shops. Real people live there and shop there, so prices are reasonable and quality is high. There is a... More
