If you are visiting Berlin and have the time to take a little trip a bit outside of the main part of the city, this is the place to check out. You will see a couple of big palaces which you can pay to go inside of (but book early, as the tours were all filled for the day when... More

Beautiful gardens and palaces, lots of walking, lots of steps, plenty of seating around to take a break, not many toilets and they do charge for usage.

The array of historic gardens merits more than a day in their own right. However, joined with the various palaces of Potsdam, this merits a trip in parallel to Berlin of at least 3 days. A day is too little. Getting to Potsdam is easy and use the public transport links, if you want to explore at your own pace.... More

Sans Souci is a very easy day out from Berlin and quite frankly a highlight not-to-be-missed. There are quite a few steps in the gardens, so be prepared.

This was a beautiful day trip from Berlin. It was easy to get to. We did not know that some of the palaces were closed the day we went. Be sure to check the schedule before you go. We spent our time wandering through the massive gardens. They are so lovely. It was a good place to take our kids... More

The park is beautiful and there is no entrance fee (there is an entrance fee to the palaces but we didn't go into any of them). We went with a guided tour (Insider tours in Hebrew) and I really think it's worth it in order to better understand the history behind the place. If you have more than 4 days... More

Potsdam was pretty but we found driving around in Berlin to be more interesting than making the long tour to Potsdam. Even if you have extra time in Berlin weI would spend time exploring the core of the city. Then you begin to understand the place and German mentality.

Even if you don't go into the various palaces, the extensive gardens and sculptures are worth the trip from Berlin as a day outing. The most sensible approach is taking the S-Bahn, which is fast and cheap then walking through the Holländische Viertel to the entrance of the gardens. Pick something up along the away or pack a lunch and... More

If you are staying a while in the city then take the opportunity to take the train out to Potsdam. Potsdam is a charming town with beautiful streets and independent stores with a cafe culture.
