Potsdam has an intriging history but I found the most recent the most fasinating. Only 10 years ago Germans ,and the rest of us, have been allowed back into the wealthy streets surrounding the gardens. These were the homes and offices of the KGB after WW11 and over recent years families have proved ownership and been able to return. The... More

The grounds were beautiful, as was the palace. We didn't have enough time to appreciate it all. A nice touch was having the 'King' playing his flute.

Lovely gardens and random palaces and buildings to see - but keep in mind your bicycle is only allowed on paved roads. We wandered off some side gravel path and was sternly reprimanded by a random security guard. Sorry, but there were no signs! Still worth a day trip though.

It was still winter when we went to Potsdam, but nonetheless, it was still beautiful! A great place to visit when you go to Berlin.

Now a suburb of the capital historic Potsdam is worth a day of anyone's time to explore the Palaces, Gardens and the laid-back atmosphere of the Old Town. An anecdote to in-your-face berlin.

It was a very elegant place. It had a little history and had many things to see.And it was very pretty. We spent around two hours over there and it was worth it,we got a bus which. Would stop at every monument and who ever wanted to see what could get off the bus. And there was even a tour. I think... More

If you have time when you're in Berlin take the train to Potsdam and thank yourself later. This is such a beautiful city with so much history of its own. The gardens are spectacular, so green and lustrous. I especially enjoyed the gardens surrounding San Souci Palace. The vertical-style garden with miniature green houses is just divine. Behind the palace... More

I believe we visited the gardens at their most beautiful time of year. Trees and bushes were in full flower bloom as well as the flowers. The history surrounding the gardens is just as rich and colorful. A great way to spend a beautiful Spring morning.
