We took a 9 country family cruise that began in Berlin. We were all so thankful to have Harald as our guide. He was not only extremely knowledgable, but he was able to squeeze so much of the city into 1.5 days. We did a bus tour and walking tour- both were fantastic. He was always accomodating when one of... More

Harald Zawalski met us promptly and smiling on the first day in Berlin and this set the tone for a fantastic long weekend. He is a great guide, knowledgeable, attentive, flexible and fun. Harald asked what we wanted to see and made a tailor made tour for us, from the major sights to the smallest detail. We were never rushed... More

This was one of the best tours I've been on. We we're limited on time, but this tour was we[[ organized and we were able to see everything we wanted and a little more. We even had time for a quick lunch and it was outstanding. Howards English was excellent and the driver was outstanding. I'll do this one again... More

Research on TripAdvisor paid off once again with our choice of Harald Zawalski and Private Tours Berlin. From our earliest correspondence to our final goodbyes, Harald was extremely responsive to questions in setting up the most efficient use of our time. We had only a short 5 hours to tour Berlin, arriving via ICE from a Hamburg Cruise stop. Harald... More

Harold made Berlin come alive for us. Berlin was the start of a three city tour that included Krakow and Warsaw and it was a marvelous way to start the tour. Harald was very nice with so much information. We did a walking tour of Berlin and took in all the beautiful sites and learned so much along the way,... More

An informative and fun four hours of walking round Berlin - what an amazing city with such a recent history. Harald you were the perfect guide allowing us to ask so many questions and always with a balanced and interesting answer. We would all recommend you as a city guide - your sense of humour and background knowledge made the... More

We were in Berlin for 4 days and so booked the Berlin History walking tour for 2 hours on our first afternoon, it was exactly what we were looking for. It was highly informative and interesting, a good route which taught us our bearings. Harold was very patient and when he explained about the history of the city he made... More

I did a 2 day walking tour with Harald and it was fantastic. He was very receptive to what I wanted out of the tour and we walked all over. He gave great recommendations for restaurants and I feel that I saw parts of Berlin that others had not considered. I was particularly interested in the history and Harald was... More

I came to Berlin because I hadn't been since the Wall came down. I wanted to learn more and see the important remnants and monuments. In the days of East Berlin, my husband and I had taken a tour from the west to the east. I remember being stopped at Checkpoint Charlie and to this day, we both joke that... More

My wife and I did the driving tour with Harald in the '57 Bentley. It was a great time. Harald was very knowledgeable about the city and very entertaining as well. The car was fantastic and was the object of much discussion as we drove around. I could not find a single negative to say about it and would highly... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
