We (2 couples) were picked up at the Port of Warnemunde in a gorgeous, comfortable Mercedes van. Thomas was our driver and is an accomplished English-speaking tour guide in his own right, so we learned a lot during the 2-1/2 hr drive to Berlin, where we met our official guide, Boris Coronado. Boris is an American ex-pat, who spent the... More

We booked a private tour and transfers for 4 adults. Ann picked us up at the port in a new and comfortable BMW van. She provided information to us as we drove to and from Berlin. We met up with our English speaking guide, Ashleigh in Berlin. It was a Wonderful tour on every level. Ashleigh was extremely knowledgeable about... More

Surprised to see such a thriving city of thousands. Construction everywhere and did not meet a single unhelpful person (most were intrigued to meet an American)

Great tour on open bus, steeped in history. Various language options on head phones as you pass the landmarks. A relaxing way to see the city. The original piece of Berlin Wall and free museum nearby is a must see attraction where you can have an aerial view of east and west. The outlet mall 45 min drive away is... More

We did a 1.5 - 2 hour river cruise in Berlin. The boat was just fine. We had a private tour that had some good food and drinks. It was during the middle of the day, and it was a nice/sunny day. Our guide that told us about what we were seeing was knowledgable and very good. I just didn't... More

The Sachenshausen memorial tour was very educational and informative. Our guide Jared was very knowledgable kept the mood sombre in light of the events which occurred at the Memorial. He regularly checked on the group and could not do enough to ensure everyone was comfortable and able to hear his knowledge on the venue.

A fabulously informative fun cycle ride around Berlin, Alex was a wonderful story teller and so knowledgable. Kept us all engaged including 11 & 13 year old boys. Highly recommended.

Three hours to 'do' Berlin is a challenge, but Andreas did an excellent job despite terrible traffic.

Great value and shows/stops at 23 landmarks in Berlin. Free brochure, cost is ok, has voice descriptions for each stop in multiple languages. Cost is reasonable, scheduled during the day from 10am-5pm, after that you take a taxi, a bus, or walk

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
