As a traveler, there are many things competing for your money and time. Experience has taught me that the best luxury and the best value while traveling is a fine private guide. Lee Evans offers a view of Berlin that will join the modern and historical perspectives for you in a unique, meaningful way. You'll come away having seen all... More

We would highly recommend this Berlin tour guide to gain clearer perspective about the significance sights you will see in Berlin, packaged in historical vignettes, delivered with a humorous twist, We experienced a fantastic day tour, complete with March sunshine, shirtsleeve temperatures, and a fantastic pub-style lunch. We were going on a Baltic Wonder Cruise with Carnival Cruise line - one of the stops was Warnemunde which lead us to Berlin. As I searched and researched available tour groups in the Berlin area. I came across Ship2Shore Tours, what a experience. The tour guide and owner was a relocated American who was exchange student from Washington. After... More

Barry did a great job with our family tour - 2 adults, 1 teenager. He kept us moving and kept the tour interesting for all 3 of us with our different interest levels, and we got a great flavor of the city in the limited time we had (day trip as part of a Baltic cruise on Princess). The arrangements... More

I was responsible for booking a Berlin shore trip for our family of 6. Based on the recommendations of friends, I finally chose ship2shore and they made our day special and exciting. Communication with Jennifer was simple and straightforward and she organized the best day of our trip. Our contact was friendly and honest, reassuring me that the day was... More

I normally eschew organized tourism, but used ship2shore for the Berlin portion of our Baltic cruise, due largely to the sense of ease at the friendly, informative, and competent nature of our initial contact with Jennifer. We origuinally desired to visit Berlin by train, but after being confronted with the pitfalls decided that a private excursion would be better and... More

Nick Jackson is the perfect guide for the city of Berlin. We were so lucky that he was available on the one free day we had. Nick has an amazing knowledge of WWII and the modern history of Berlin, and he taught us more than we ever would have been able to learn on our own. He is also very... More

We spent an incredibly fascinating day in Berlin led by Nick Jackson. He is an extremely engaging, informative and knowledgeable guide. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and left inspired to read and learn more about the sites we saw relating to Jewish Berlin and Nazi Berlin history. We are a family of four, two parents and two adult sons. All... More

Lee Evans and Ship2Shore couldn't have been better! Timely picked us up at the Warnemunde port (off of a Celebrity cruise ship) with a very comfortable van and a driver and had an outstanding day visiting the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp before going on to Berlin. Very well educated, great sense of humor and a great day overall.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
