I made a trip to Berlin and was really wanting to visit this bar which seemed a monument of Berlin night life. Unfortunately I was not allowed to enter, the very young and Aryan doorman seemed to think I was not good enough for the place, no explanation at all of course. But I know it is because I am... Being stopped at the door and refused entry because you have a special look, for example thick - pitiful! What's the Hitler graces?!

I have been visiting Berlin for 5 years now and have never had a problem getting in this bar and I am over 40 and not great looking, The staff have always been friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. The dark room action is always good and there seems to be someone for all types. I will definitely be... More

Very bad gay bar: this night (from 14 to 15 August 2013), it was supposedly, a very antipathetic and ugly doorman told me, a "private party", while the door was opened! This bar is really a crap. I have the intention to inform the LGBT associations of Berlin and, why not?, the police: I suppose there exists in Germany some... More

Tom's has all the dark room action you could want but has the unfortunate problem of a number of remarkably nasty bartenders-they will rip you off on drinks, two-for-one specials, and will clearly discriminate against anyone they don't like-especially Americans, no matter how friendly the customer is, even if they speak German. Don't these c u n t s know... More

Tom's Bar is a great place to start your night. It is a bit small and it played porn in the general area which made me feel a bit strange haha! Otherwise it was fine.

I had no issues entering this bar like others mentioned. I noticed a great variety of men in the bar from young guys to older. Staff members were friendly and drinks were reasonable.

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighborhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the center of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the center of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
