The Brandenburg Gate is one of Berlin's most recognizable landmarks. It's a beautiful area to visit, with a number of embassies (including the US Embassy) in the immediate vicinity. It made me think of Ronald Reagan calling on Gorbachev to "tear down that wall."

Being one of the symbols of Germany, it's naturally a perfect photo opportunity. The gate is beautiful with some intricate carvings on the inner walls toward the tops. Even more interesting is the chariot on top. We were fortunate enough to learn some of the history of the gate from our guide, some of which was quite interesting. Many of... More

See the Brandenburg gate either by catching the uBahn independently or do one of the main walking tours which is sure to take you past and tell you the history. There is loads to see around it, like the Holocaust Musuem and there is also great shopping nearby.

An 18th century neoclassical triumphal arch built on the site of former city gate. Comissioned by King Frederic II of Prussia and built from 1788 to 1791 as a sign of peace. The gate have suffered a considerable damage during the attack on Berlin during WWII. During the "Cold War" the gate was isolated and not accessible to the public,... More

Huge monument with great history behind it, beautiful in the day and night, but less crowded for photos at night!

one the most welcoming monuments the world has ever witnessed. The design and architecture are the creation of Carl Gotthard Langhans. The arch is a beautiful blend of Neoclassical and Greek revival architectural styles. A must Visit

Well most would probably go to this must-see attraction at day time. But I highly recommend going there at night when they light this up. Quite a nice imposing structure with the lights on. I just sat on the bench and watched people go about their business. This is quite accessible from the train station, as soon as you get... More

Such a beautiful attraction, a definite must do when your in the city. It was really busy in the day, not so much at night, but we managed to get a few good pictures of both the front (which you have to do from the middle of a road) and the back, where there is a large pedestrian square. There... More

The Brandenburg Gate has seen it all and now offers THE location for a photograph to prove you're in Berlin. From the Gate itself you can stand and gaze towards the Reichstag, the great thoroughfare leading to the Siegesaule, the huge column which celebrates the victory of Prussia over Denmark (well, yes...) in 1864, and the Unter den Linden which...
