Great tour with highly knowledgeable staff (Sam and Polly) willing to answer all my many questions about this intriguing city and let me really get to grips with the place in such a short time period during my 2 day trip. Many thanks again

There were only my husband and me and 3 other people, a young couple from the UK and a young man from California. The tour guide was great. We did a lot of walking but it was very interesting to not only hear about and taste the beer but about Berlin. We also enjoyed meeting the other people in a... More

The Best of Berlin tour with Alexander was easily one of the highlights of our 6 day visit to the city. We took the tour on our first full day and it provided the perfect basis for everything we saw and experienced thereafter. Alexander is extremely intelligent and his delivery was both accessible and thought-provoking. He successfully conveyed and inspired... More

My partner and I went on the 6 hour walking tour with Jonathon. He was an excellent guide who navigated us through centuries of German/European history with exceptional knowledge and good fun. He wasn very helpful in answering all of our questions and we came out with a much better understanding of history, not to mention a bit of material... More

A six hour walking tour....my husband was not thrilled....he is not a walker. BUT then we met Jonathon. Not only did he make it fun with this snide comments and no mercy for any country he showed us a Berlin we never would have seen on our own. A couple of well timed stops and a little seated history lesson... More

We went on the shorter walking tour which was still around 4 1/2 hours, but we enjoyed every second of it! Jonathan mixed facts, history, and humor with a very enjoyable walking tour of the amazing city

Only 1 day in Berlin, and I don't have a clue where to go, so I thought I would book a tour. Well this was the best tour decision I have made. Our guide Preston was incredibly well informed about everything Berlin. Don't let the 6hr walk put you off. Invest a little time up front and use this opportunity... More

We went on the walking tour and spent 6,5 lovely hours being guided around the sights of Berlin by our knowledgable guide, Preston. The tour went by all the major sights in central Berlin (Mitte) and the guide has deep knowledge of them all. I addition to the well known sights the tour also gives an understanding of the differences... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
