We went to three different bars that we would not have found by ourselves, had some great beer, learnt about the history and met some cool people. It was really fun and a great way to spend a night in Berlin. Sam was a... More

My brother and I did the brewery tour with a great guide (Matte). It was SO much fun! We had a great group too, which helps. It was largely made up of Americans between the ages of 21-35. We learned a lot about the science of beer making and the history of Berlin's breweries. While the beer culture of Germany... More

Great tour with a great guide (Jonathan) he knows the city and its history well and was engaging. Most of the tour focused on WW II history. The group was very large (25+) and I would have preferred to pay more for a smaller (10-15 people) group. Overall, we had a good time and would recommend the tour if you... More

Today we did the did the 6 hr "Best of Berlin" tour with Asoka. At 15€ this tour is an amazing deal. The tour lasted 6 1/2 hours. The emphasis is on World War II history. We saw everything we read about and more. There were sights that we never would have found without Asoka and historical information that just... More

We loved the 6.5 hours tour, which was very interesting, covering the rich history of Berlin, and great introduction for the city.

My cousin and I were in Berlin for just two days and wanted to be able to see the most important sights in the little time that we were there--this tour was perfect for that! We were brought around the city by Asoka who was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour as advertised in our hostel, The Circus Hostel and... More

We really enjoyed this tour with Sam. He conducted the tour very well and helped us to really understand the history connected to the particular attractions. It was relaxed, informative, with a good pace. Hats off to him and how well he explained everything. One very knowledgeable guy !! Will definitely recommend :)

I really enjoyed this tour! It was my first full day and was an excellent introduction to the city, with really great historical facts and recommendations. Jonathan was a great tour guide and provided a lot of laughs but was very knowledgeable as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning more about the city... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
