We went on the Local Beer and Breweries Tour and had a lot of fun. It was great to taste some local Berlin beers and learn about the history of beer and brewing in Berlin. We went to some great little bars in areas which we may have missed as tourists. Asoka was a great guide. Would definitely recommend people... More

I booked the 3 day tour with Brewers and my personal guide was Asoka who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. On my first evening she came to meet me to introduce herself to me at the hostel and took me to a local street food market and for a few drinks. On the next day I... More

We went on the Best of Berlin tour. Jonathan was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and humorous. We had a wonderful time. I would recommend this tour for anyone coming to Berlin to do on their first day, to get a lay of the land. Although the tour took 6 hours, there were breaks, and it was not a... More

We walked the most extensive (6+ hour tour) with Sam and it was great. Sam is extremely knowledgeable and a very efficient and fun communicator. The very best way to start a first visit to Berlin.

This was a fantastic way to see Berlin in a day. I went on the 6hr tour, and although you don't go into places, they are pointed out to you and explained. It then gives you an idea about what you want to go and see in your own time. But we did visit all the main sights of Berlin,... More

I went on a walking tour with them and it was a great way to see all of the main spots in Berlin! I liked it so much that I booked a beer tasting tour with them as well. Unfortunately, I was given the wrong instructions on how to get to the meeting point so I ended up on the... More

I had a very brief trip to Berlin so decided to do this walking tour to get an overview of the city. Our tour guide, Espin was very friendly and took the time to introduce himself individually to everyone on the tour. He remembered our names and would talk to us inbetween locations, which i thought was very welcoming. He... More

Polly is a knowledgable and engaging guide for this walking tour of Berlin. I would not hesitate to recommend Brewer's Berlin Tours. The tour lasted about 6.5 hours and provided a nice compilation of sites around the city. You won't be disappointed in this tour!

I went on the 6+ hour tour with Alexander and he was the best tour guide I have ever had. Not being from the city himself gave him a very enjoyable perspective. He constantly checked up on the group making sure everyone was doing okay and basically allowed us to dictate what he told us. If someone had a question... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
