This castle is part of the Bavaria Pass system, so make sure if you are seeing at least two castles/palaces in Bavaria, that you get this pass - it’s an amazing deal! We weren’t sure what to expect here, as we hadn’t heard about it from any of our friends and had only read about it on TripAdvisor and in... More

The old history almost to touch. Embedded in the rebuilt towncenter after world war II you feel like living in the middle age. More

Only the outside was available to see because of renovations being made. The grounds were beautiful but not in bloom yet. A restaurant has been added since I was there 30 years ago. Need to see when renovations are complete. Also, just to note, the website is not entirely accurate. Had it stated that it was under renovations or would... More

We went here on a beautiful Saturday in February. It was almost 20degrees and sunny! The gardens were nice but nothing too special. The staff here is perhaps the most unfriendly of anywhere we have ever been and we have been all over the US, Carribean, Europe (East and West) parts of Africa and Asia. They made our friend spit... The Residenz is a nice palace. The gardens are beautiful. Worth a stop for an hour or two as well as you can wander the city while you car is parked there (Parking cost is per hour). I personally liked the Marienberg Fortress better. If you going to explore Germany and the castles this is a great place to get... More

Residenz palace is absolutely the top attraction in Würzburg - Unesco's World Heritage. The Würzburg court architect, Balthasar Neumann, made an incomparable suite of rooms – Vestibule, Staircase, White Hall and Imperial Hall – one of the most magnificent I have ever seen, decorated and furnished by artists and craftsmen in a joint creative undertaking which also produced "Würzburg rococo",... This UNESCO World Heritage site is the top attraction in this medieval city. The restoration work completed since its near total destruction in 1945 is remarkable and the Residenze is truly one of the top palaces to visit in Germany. More

I've never seen anything like it! Absolutely magnificent! I came to explore the Residenz at noon and was told there would be an English-speaking tour at 3pm. So I went to to grab some lunch instead and then waited around for a little while. It was definitely worth the wait! The very knowledgeable guide led us from room to room,... More

Definetly worth the time. There were no English speaking tours when we were there (maybe we missed the time?) But we met a lady from Wurzburg with her family from out of town who spoke English and let us tag along. The chapel on the end is still being renovated when we were there. More
