Rothenburg is a well-preserved little town which you can easily visit on day-trip. It is really beautiful but totally touristy.

Rothenburg is a nicely preserved old gingerbread Hansel & Gretel type town. It has a wonderful Christmas market and stores catering to Christmas decorations, toys, etc, including one with all sorts of picture windows inside with moving toys. My college age sons loved it & that is saying something. We drove from Nuremberg which is about 1-1/2 hours by car... More

This is somewhat a tourist trap, but nevertheless it is enjoyable to walk around and take in the atmosphere. I enjoyed exploring the narrow cobblestone streets and visiting the numerous shops along the way. The town is very well kept and picturesque. Well worth a visit.

Make sure you do the Night watchman tour - fantastic presentation, information, and value. He sells DVD's as well and it is worth picking up...

It's one of the best preserved walled towns in Germany. Must see Torture museum and the Protestant Cathedral with best wooden carved alter.

Really quaint old walled town, with a good Christmas market. Good hotels and restaurants. We had a day trip there and it was enough to see the place. St Jacob's church has a wonderfully carved screen. Just a great walk around experience.

Rothenburg is one of our favorite towns. The old town is just great for wandering around. Not that big, but lots of shops and eating places. The old walls, are amazing. You can go up and walk the walls for some great pictures. Easy to get to by train from Nuremberg, just about a 15 minute walk from the train... More
