Visiting Rothenburg ob der Tauber is like being transported to a fairy tale town in a different era. If you love Old World architecture, you'll love this quaint and charming town. Our stay in Rothenburg was a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. It is a bit touristy with shop after shop, but well worth... More

Takes you back in time - a beautiful old town with lovely buildings. The buildings are in different colours and cobbled streets

Rothenburg is a relatively small medieval town with lots of history. It is easy to walk almost everywhere within this old walled city. We went to Rothenburg on an optional tour with Viking River Cruises. It was preserved in its 17th century state after becoming impoverished during the 30 Years' War and becoming depopulated by the black death. It was... More

We found Markus (Viatorius Tours Germany) on the internet and he was amazing. He came and picked us up at our hotel in Heidelberg and we did 2 full day tours with him - Rothenburg, Nuremberg the first day and then he was so great, we asked him to take us to the Black Forest our second day - Freiburg,... Rothenburg is an old medieval town and is beautiful. It is a small town surrounded by big walls. We walked through most of its cobblestone streets. Nice houses, well decorated gives excellent view and looks like pictures. The town is well preserved and old town is one of its main attractions. We also tried snowballs and was good. Must see.

Quite humbling to walk around this town and see the ancient buildings in tremendous repair, and realize that they have been around since BEFORE Columbus came to America. You look at some of the buildings in the US that are half a millennium younger, and they are already falling apart.

I'm totally in love with the architecture i saw during my stay in Rothenburg. The well preserved buildings and walls speak of many history, especially on how Rothenburg managed to survive many rounds of conquer and attacks. Be sure to join the Night Watchman tour. No doubt the watchman is very entertaining, but at the same time I gained more... More

This is what I expected a medieval town to look like.....cobblestones, half-timbered houses, an impressive town hall, narrow streets, small shops and all the ambiance you could want. We enjoyed leisurely strolling through old town. One of the prettiest towns we have seen!
