This town was a favorite among all of us! My teenagers absolutely loved this town. It has shops, bakeries, sweet treats, cafes with outdoor seating and wonderful architecture. The history of this town is simply phenomenal and one that must be heard. The Night Watchman Tour is the best way to hear it and he is very entertaining and fun!

The town is like a story book....it's beautiful. The architecture is really charming, you can get tons of pictures. And the shops..there are so many, a huge assortment of Christmas ornaments and other items and great food. The towns people are very friendly and helpful. Just a fun day!

Just walking around this town never gets old! Beautiful. Loved eating outside on the street at one of the many cafes.

We traveled by car along the Romantic Road from Wurzburg to Nordlingen. Everyone advised us to spend time in Rothenburg. It is a beautiful, historically preserved town; however, we enjoyed Dinkelsbuhl and Nordlingen much more. They also have church towers to climb, cobbled streets and are enclosed by a circular wall with towers and gates....but they are not crowded with... More

Rothenburg was the highlight of our family trip to Europe. This city was lost in time, and has only in the past 50 years become a vacation and tourist destination. Be sure to do the Night Watchman's Tour to learn much more about the city. We spent a day and a half here and felt like we covered 80% of... More

The wall surrounds most of the old town. There is no charge for ascending and walking round the wall, but there are disclaimers from the council on each staircase, should something happen to you. The walkways and stairs look a bit rickety, but once on them, they seem solid enough, and given that there are no barriers restricting the walk... More

We loved Rothenburg with its' quaint buildings and streets. In the summer time the buildings have beautiful flower baskets on the windows, it all looked so lovely.

You can shop, walk around and enjoy the old buildings (many are pre-WWII, and you can hardly tell yourself which ones aren't), enjoy the garden right outside one of the gates, and even do a bit of hiking if you leave the old town and the walls. There are tours of the area (I recommend the Nigh Watchman's tour) and... More
