The Double Bridge is located down in the Tauber Valley. It will take about 45 minutes to walk there from the town centre. This bridge is quite unique and was a masterpice of engineering during the time is was build. You can combine visiting this bridge with a hike along the Tauber Valley and back up to Rothenburg which will... More

I did not walk down to this bridge, but it was lovely to look down into the valley at it from above.

We entered Rothenburg on the back roads and rounded a corner to find this amazing structure with the city perched above - what a great photo moment!

the walk form the castle gardens is very nice, giving you another angle to the old town, but the actual bridge does not have any special appeal.

This is a hike for returning visitors as well as those looking for a little excersise. While relatively unremarkable, the sense of history below the ancient city walls gives one a sense of what potential attackers faced, an uphill battle if ever there was one... only to be greeted by arrows and hot oil pouring out of the city gates.

The walk back up(UP) hill is well worth a stroll to the bridge. It is a very large span similar to Roman aqueducts. Cars and trucks drive over it daily.

You can easily do Rothenburg in an afternoon providing the weather is good. I have happy memories of the place as I spent a month there over 20 years ago learning German at the Goethe Center. However, its attractions pall very quickly as it is very small and I would not recommend anyone to stay more than one night unless... More

We visited Rothenburg on our trip south from Berlin in September 2010. We only had an afternoon to visit so we did not get to see sll the many museums and attractions that are available. I was enraptured by the entire experience. It was like stepping back into medieval Bavarian Germay in the 12th century. The town began in 900.... More

The Double Bridge (early fourteenth century) is a pleasant walk outside of Rothenburg. It is found to the west of the walled town (use Kobolzeller Gate, but this is a steep downhill path). It was fortified just after the devastating earthquake of 1356 and formed part of Rothenburg's defenses. If one walks over the bridge one can see the small Kobolzeller... More

The double bridge (Doppelbrucke) walk leads down from the town and into the Tauber Valley below. It is a steep descent although it is not a long walk (we were stuffed because we had just landed after 24 hours of flying). The double bridge looks a bit like a roman aqueduct but was otherwise unremarkable. There were some nice views... More
