Not much here. When we asked a shop owner to recommend a restaurant, he said he wouldn't "eat here." Needless to say, we moved on. Find a nicer place to linger.

After a conference in Munich, I was planning to visit the world famous Neuschwanstein Castle. Altstadt von Fuessen was just a stop on the way......
Stepped off the train, I was attracted by the beautiful scenery.
Walking in the town, you can see many nice houses, beautiful churches, elegant hotels and quaint restaurants. Beside the beautiful street view, there are...

Great old city which marks beginning of romantic strasse, at the bottom of alps. Convinient to stop overnight on the way from Munich to Austrian ski resorts and other destinations.
It is pretty, but it's missing life, there's not much to do and city goes to sleep extremely early, make sure you get some supplies before 8 pm.
When you are in the area visiting the castles and you have a few hours to kill, stopping over in Fuessen is one option. There is a fairly large pedestrian area with some nice old houses. Some shopping options, and some cafes and restaurants. Could be nice in summer, when one can sit outside.
Bottom line: if you are on...

Despite the cold we enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon wandering through the Alststadt. Quite a number of cafes were open and even an ice cream shop, which sold the cheapest ice cream we have had since being in Europe. The housing is picturesque and I am sure it has a wonderful summer ambience. Shop keepers were friendly and not at...

We stopped in Fussen during our recent tour of Germany. It actually is a nice place to stay if you are touring the famous castles of crazy Ludwig. The town center is quanit and reasonably well preserved. We found it a bit a little run down, however, compared to some of the other small cities we visited in Germany.

Very nice place to be. Walking at ease in a car-free old town centre. Surprise that - even in winter and even late in the evening the castle yard appeared to be open and free accessible. Beautifully snow-linen. We will come back in summer time!
The street is beautiful, it looks like a toy town, with colorful houses, and the snow on the roofs and lights on, I thought I was in a movie story. The bad thing is that on Sunday is everything closed, even coffee shops and the touristic informations. As it is a touristic town I was disapointed.
A charming town to explore with intersting shops and charming, clean streets with lots of character and appreciation of art.
