This castle has it all - a moat, huge defensive walls, tall towers, drawbridges, an amazing view of Nuremberg, and so much more. If you're looking for an authentic medieval castle, this is it! It's free to wander around the grounds, but if you want to go inside you'll need to pay an entrance fee. It's worth it! The fee... More

Unfortunately my visit in July was in the evening, and most of the interior of Nuremberg castle was closed for the day. However, even in the evening, the fortress is majestic, the walk through town and up the hill into the castle grounds pleasant, and the view superior. After closing hours, one can still explore the castle grounds and courtyard,... More

This is one of your typical impressive medieval castles situated on top of a hill inside an ancient walled city. The castle was also frequently visited by the old emperors of the Holy Roman Empire so you begin to understand the importance of the city. From the hill, you also get a spectacular view of the rest of Nuremberg.

Extremely mid-evil looking, complete with moat, drawbridge, massive walls, tall and easily defensible tower. Thanks to these many key defensive elements, this castle/fortress never fell into the hands of attackers. Great view of the ancient city. It was begun in sometime in the 11th century and was not completed until the 1600's.

It's a beautifull castle, not like the ones you see in fary tales, it's more like a tower with houses around (like a village) in the top of a hill, surrounded by a huge wall to protect it. Since it's on top of a hill, the view is nice up there, and you can see the whole city from above.... More

The castle is in easy to reach when you tour Nuremberg and is the main feature of old Nuremberg. Although I did not actually enter the castle I was very impressed with the splendor of it from without. Certainly a good photo opportunity and one of the must see sites in the old city.

You have to go on a tour to see this castle, but there are a lot of interesting stories about the well and the style of entertainment when a noble came to visit. When the noble left, so did the furniture. The view of the city is awesome.

We discovered lots about the Nuremberg trials, Hitler and the place where he held all of his big parades! There was also a big hotel with a big red ribbon around it, it's empty and they want someone to buy it!! No one will because it was Hitlers hotel!!! Quite a nice building, a pity that it's empty!

Thing to see in Nuremberg. Castle is dominating Old City of Nuremberg, it is a small walk uphill, but its worthwhile.

The castle ground provides an excellent view of the town. The exhibit inside the castle museum has room for improvement (needs more English language)
